What Is Happening With The Brand Name Fioricet?

Cannot locate any pharmacy who has the brand name Fioricet. This past month, I have been using a generic brand manufactured by Qualitest. This medication has been awful; so bad that I believe it has caused my headaches to become more intense/frequent. I have located one pharmacy several miles from my home that does have the generic brand Fioricet manufactured by Watson.

What is going on with the brand name of Fioricet? Has there been a recall or...? I take this medication on a daily basis (I have MS and suffer from severe/migraine headaches.) I understand that Watson Pharmaceuticals is now Actavis; however, why would they discontinue manufacturing the brand name of a medication?

According to the information I have, all Butalbital is being discontinued, even the generics. However, this could change, at any time, since the pharmaceutical industry is prone to doing that.

However, you may want to discuss the issue with your doctor to see what your alternatives are, just in case it doesn't change.

Hi! Thank you for responding. I have learned that the brand name of Firoricet , which is manufactured by Watson, is no longer available in the the 50-325-40mg., tabs. Apparently, the FDA has ordered that the new dosage of Butalbital be reduced to 300 mg. I have been informed that the new dosage is 50-300-40 mg. However, I was advised that Watson is producing the brand name of Firoricet in capsule form only, 50-325-40mg. On Thursday, I purchased the generic brand of Firoricet, by Watson, 50-325-40mg tabs. Much better! In speaking to the pharmacist, who is 81 years old, he believed that Watson was a better product and his daughter also advised that the generic brand name, Oualitest, was like taking water ~ I FELT VENDICATED!!!

PLEASE GET THE WORD OUT ~ THOSE OF US WHO SUFFER FROM CHRONIC ILLNESS AND CHRONIC PAIN, NEED QUALITY MEDICATION ~ STOP TRYING TO MAKE A BIGGER PROFIT - LIVE IN OUR BODIES FOR ONE WEEK ~ FIND OUT HOW IMPORTANT IT IS FOR QUALITY MEDICATION!!!
