I take 25mg of metoprolol tartrate twice a day. I had already taken my usual dose in the am but for my evening dose accidentally took a double dose. Should I be worried?

I think I may have taken two 50 mg metoprolol tartrate at once. My reg dose is 50 mg in the morning and 50 mg at night, but I got distracted and believe I took a double dose. I am scared.

I usually take 100 mg of Metoprolol succinate twice a day; 1 in the morning and one in the evening... I was on the phone and got sidetracked and forgot I had taken one and then took another. Is this dangerous?

Hello, Glostixx! How are you? Did you suffer any adverse effects?

That's not a dangerous dose to take, unless your blood pressure and heart rate is already low. But it could cause you to experience more side effects than normal, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain.

It would be best to inform your doctor to be safe.
