The FDA classifies Hydroxyzine as an antihistamine that is also used for its sedative like effects, so a higher dose may exacerbate those effects and someone taking 50mgs may experience side effects, such as dizziness, drowsiness, strong sedation and somnolence.
They should also only take that dosage, if that's the amount their doctor has prescribed.
