Toprol contains the active ingredient Metoprolol and since it has been proven effective, with a low risk of side effects in many people, it is often the first choice treatment medication for high blood pressure and heart conditions.
However, some people like yourself do have problems with it. I experienced bad side effects, as well and what I was switched to was Carvedilol, because it is known to cause far fewer side effects.
