i found out that i was pregnant & about 2-3 weeks, and i took searle pills insert 1 & swallow 2 but up to now my period has not come down as yet, so i was wondering if something is wrong here?

Searle is the name of a drug manufacturer, that is now part of the Pfizer corporation, so I am not quite certain which one of their products you are talking about.

They manufacture both the Cytotec tablet, which can be used to induce abortion and a morning after tablet.

Cytotec contains the active ingredient Misoprostol, it is usually used completely vaginally, one every 12 hours, for a total of 3 dosages. If it is taken orally, the dosages are still split up and it is left to dissolve sublingually, between the gum and cheek.

The morning after pills are hormonal tablets, there are several of them, that are usually taken in one or two dosages, depending on which type they are, within 3 to 5 days of unprotected sex.

The main difference with this second option is that they only work to prevent implantation of the embryo. If you were already pregnant and took them, they will not abort the pregnancy. They are only effective for prevention.

Do you remember which one of these options it was that you used?

Even if you took the Misoprostol/Cytotec, it is not 100% effective at eliminating pregnancy, so you may need to see your doctor for another termination method.

i was only 4 weeks pregnant and i took searle,within 4 hours i got my period.during my period i experienced lots of pain and lots of cloths appeared and bled out.today is 11 days and i still have my period and pain.i stil get 1 or two clots.is something wrong with me?did the tablet work for me and why isnt the period stopping?should i consult a doctor

Betty, yes, you should consult a doctor.

However, the symptoms you described are all normal side effects of using these medications to end a pregnancy. What they basically do is induce a miscarriage and any time this happens, there is going to be cramping and more bleeding than normal.

Women who suffer a natural miscarriage, have an abortion or give birth can bleed for several weeks, afterwards.

i have used the searle pill..i tested and was preganant but not sure of how long. i am getting the cramps and i have started spotting but havent seen any clots as yet but still experiencing the pain. is something wrong? i have pills that is about 2 years old. can i still use these pills?

hi,
I'm 8 weeks pregnant, In my country abortion is illegal. so i took 4 searle 1461 pills orally at about 1100pm on Thursday I started having cramps and mild bleeding(only when i peeyed) with very little blood clots at 0200 am. i managed to fall asleep, when i awoke at 0800am , i realized that the bleeding had stopped, so i took 4 more searle 1461 but nothing happened! Does that mean my abortion failed??????

I have been bleeding as if i am getting my periods and experienced some pains for th previous day. Now he is again asking for some money as he is saying i need some cleansing pills. I am 19 and in matric I am about 3-4 months prgnt!!!! I went for an abortion the first timE and was given the searle 46 pill, I felt a lot of pain and cramps. I ddnt bleed heavly as I was sapoze to! Why am I not bleeding after I take searle 1461? I took it at exactly 3am and until now I did not experience any bleeding! I took 2 searle 1461 orally then i inserted 2. How long does it take to work because it has been almost 2 hours since I took it? The doctor said I should feel like I'm having my period!

I'm 3weeks preg I used the Searle 1461 I felt a little pain d next day with blood and cramps and after that no bleeding again and I checked two days after I still test positive.My pregnancy test still shows positive do I need to use drugs cos I'm not in an environment where I can reach a doctor.
