UpdatedI have chronic acid reflux and my doctor prescribed Equate? I can't take pills and he says I can dissolve in water.

Equate is not the name of a medication, Equate is a brand name used by Wal-Mart for their over the counter medication products.
That said, I really can't tell you anything about what he has prescribed, because there are several options, available.
Can you check the prescription details and post back?
Equate is a stool softener (laxative); that doubles as an antacid. Antacid is a substance which neutralizes stomach acidity, so it makes sense that your doctor would prescribe it to you for chronic acid reflux.
Active Ingredients: Sennosides 8.6 mg.
Inactive Ingredients: Cellulose, Croscarmellose Sodium, Dicalcium Phosphate, Hypromellose, Magnesium Stearate, Maltodextrin, Polyethylene Glycol, Silica Gel
A lot of the pills today can be dissolved in water to help make them easier to take. Definitely continue doing that if that's what works best for you. I hope the information above helps!
