Just wondered if this med. is common for treating staph infections. i was taking 800mg Bactrim prior to this. My abscess has been lanced and drained and was given this prescription as a second round antibiotic. Any concerns or red flags here?

No, it's common for another antibiotic to be tried, if one doesn't work.
Doxycycline may cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea.
