In relation to birth control, a window period usually refers to the period of time when you should take the tablets, each day. You should try to take them at the same time, but you do have a window period of several hours to take them, before it would be enough time where you would have to treat it the same as missing a pill.
Breakthrough bleeding refers to any type of bleeding that may occur, while your body is getting used to the hormones in the tablets. It may appear as just light bleeding, commonly called spotting, or it may be heavier and seem like a normal period flow.
