I definitely hear you on this one. Prescription drugs can be more confusing than algebra at times. Lol

The difference of mcg vs mg is the measurement of each. MCG is the abbreviation of micrograms. MG is the abbreviation of milligram. You would need 1000 micrograms to make up 1 milligram.

For your own reference: 50 mcg = 0.050 mg

What is the difference between b12 5000mcg and b12 1000 mcg. I have been taking b12 1000mcg. And the bottle is empty so is it okay if I take b12 5000mcg

Vitamin B12 is a "water soluble" vitamin. As general rule, you can not take too much of any vitamin that is water soluble. The opposite of this being "fat soluble" which means it is stored in the body long term. Vitamin B12 is an exception to this as it is stored in the liver long term even though it is water soluble. If your having stomach pains than perhaps you should take less. But keep in mind, this along with most other vitamins should be taken with food to avoid any GI upset. So before deciding to decrease your daily dose, first ask yourself if you are taking them properly with food. If not, that may be your only issue and you may not need to decrease. Are you taking it just once a day?
