Wellbutrin And Weight Loss

I began taking Wellbutrin about a year and a half ago. I started at 200 mg. And am still at that dosage. It caused me to lose about 30 pounds, which is great. It gave me energy and suppressed my appetite. But within the past few months I've noticed the medicine doesn't work as well as it used to and I'm gaining the weight back dramatically and my diet is the same. My question is, if my doctor ups the dosage, would it help me lose weight again? Or is my body already used to the medication to where it wouldn't be as beneficial as when I began?

Upping your dose may help, it usually does cause the side effects to recur, which is basally what you want.

Alternatively, you could ask your doctor about trying Contrave, it contains the same active ingredient as Wellbutrin, coupled with Naltrexone is used for weight loss. The combination seems to help some people more than the Bupropion by itself.

The side effects are pretty much the same and, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, insomnia and irritability.
