Wellbutrin Xl 150 Generic
UpdatedIve been prescribed Wellbutrin xl 150 once daily for perimenapausal symptoms, mainly severe hot flashes. Today is my 11th day. Can anyone tell me please how long I should give this dose. To date I don't see that its helped. After reading many stories on this forum, it sounds like I should give it some time.

It should take you more or less one month for the Wellbutrin XL to really get going/kick in and for you to actually feel its effects on a continual basis. If you are worried about it not kicking in fast enough, there are always non XL (XL signifies extended release, which stays longer in your body, but is realized over an extension of time throughout your body to help promote a more consistent & longer lasting effect) versions which would basically be released immediately into your body. But please be advised that non XL antidepressants are short acting, and tend to flush out of your body quite quickly, thus providing one a less consistent/steady/in-going amount of the needed medicine in their body to help with the situation at hand. As always, please talk with your doctor if there are any questions or concerns, for as it also may just be the need to increase the daily dosage to 200mg, which is not an unreasonable option.
Just to add, Andrea offers sound advice in my opinion as well. And from what I've researched, it has been known to take a while for antidepressants to kick-in (sometimes up to several weeks). So if you can patiently wait it out, all the more power to you! However, I would only encourage someone to do what intrinsically feels right to them... perhaps by weighing out the pros and cons, monitoring one's mental & emotional stability during this time, as well as identifying and taking into consideration other potential underlying factors that could influence how well it does or does not work in the process of it all. There are many other medications on the market, including variations of Wellbutrin with immediate or extended release properties as Andrea mentioned that may also be worth looking into. The only thing to be aware of is that trial and error is a normal process when it comes down to finding out what works best for you individually.
I hope this helps and wish you good health!
