Re action Welchol powder. Throat came itchy and closed. Could not breath, what a scary day that was. What a awaking. I don't know what made me breath again.

If you took it properly, then that could have been an allergic reaction and your doctor should be informed.

I mixed it with a lot of water and lemonade(16oz), because it was so sweet the 1st 3 times I tried. Should have known then something was wrong. My throat was so itchy and kept coughing most of the day. Thought it was from the VOG in Hawaii. I had trouble taking the pills also, wanted to vomit and started to lose feeling in my right foot. Just didn't connect.

I also had a bad reaction the first time taking the wechol with water and juices. I do not drink diet anything, so that was out. I have been on it now going on if not 3 years. I mix mine with unsweetened weak tea. I tried sweetened but it became to sweet to me. It dissolves better and goes down very well with the tea without the feeling of the need to gag as it did with the juice and water. It seems to me to be or become sweeter with added sugar. My #'s have improved while on it without the side affect of muscle weakness and pain. I would like to know though, if there is any interaction with this medication and grapefruit and or it's derivatives.
