Weight Gain From Citalopram?

I was just prescribed Citalopram by my doctor and I'm afraid of gaining weight while on this - has anyone else noticed weight gain?

It is quite common. I gained over 60 pounds while on 20mg of citalopram for 1 year and 4 months. The weight gain is a nightmare. EQ

Yes, Citalopram has been known to cause weight gain as a side effect in some people that take it, however, it has also been known to cause weight loss in some patients, so they only way to know how it will affect you is by trying it. More common side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, amnesia, and abnormal gait, according to FDA reports.
