Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 24) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.
Jennifer-congrats!!! Finding what you need is SUCH a huge relief. No more horrible side effects, more pain for no reason, confusion, frustration and feeling like you've gone nuts!!!
KNOWING that what you need is out there and you just can't find it is SO crazy-making, right?
And people telling you that it's ALL the same stuff and it's all in your imagination. ..Idk which is worse...lolol..
I'm SO happy for you!
Don't forget to mark your calendar 5-7 days ahead of refill each month to call and order if they don't have any on the shelf!
If he got some, he has a purchase order and can get more...it's just research. Sounds like a nice guy. Make him find that PO and save it!:)
Aren't you glad you have an accent...lol???
Jennifer the ones I use are round yellow pills and are the 5/325. I have never had to go up to the 10's only one time on vacation i hurt my back and the ER doctor gave me 10/325. That was back when I taking watson . They just seemed a bit too strong so I had to always take only half. I tried to give the brand name percocet they are blue pills and the endocet the white pills a fair chance but each time it was the same side effects over and over. At that point I think I would rather take the pain or take OTC meds than put up with those kind of side effects. Is the endocet still working okay for you? I believe it was Lisa M who said she really likes the endocet. Have not seen any updates on it from her in a while. I really thought the endocet were for me but they also made me very dragged out after about an. hour or so after I took one. Then the spacy feeling all day ugh I couldn't eat or do anything but stay home and watch tv.
Jennifer-did you get my post about the purchase order?
Hi Jan, I called actavis and filed a complaint about how sick the 5 325 oxycodone made me. I talked to a rep over there for about 45 minutes, then another rep called me back and asked for the lot number on the bottle. I told her she would have to call Walgreens. So hopefully they are checking into this medication. I lucked out last month, surprisingly my Walgreen called around and got some old stock of the Watsons for me. I was shocked and it really had to do with 1 pharmacists efforts. Now I have had to change pharmacies and am trying the qualitest brand.
Hi Alice,
Yes, Actavis is denying everything. They even sent me a letter doing so. I'm getting used to the Mallickrodt, and I have good days and bad. It was the same with Watson though. It's because the strength of my pills is 5/325. I won't complain, because some people can't get anything. As you might have read in some of my earlier post's, I almost lost what I have now when I said the pills aren't working as well. My husband found some of my old Watson's, and I was very happy, but I took some of them within a day and I didn't feel any different. They could have been old though. I get a new script next week and will stick with what I have. Honestly, I am happy to be getting some pain relief. That Actavis was terrible, because it didn't even help with the pain. My pain level is really high lately. I'm thinking of getting another spinal epidural if the pain level stays the same. Is the Watson working for you like it did before? Let me know.
Sorry I haven't posted. Lola how is the percodan? Still working? Jennifer are you getting better relief with the endocet? I always have to give myself a few days to adjust when I was changing brands no matter what it was. When I went from Mallinckrodt back to watson I went through an adjustment and was only on the mallinckrodt for a month. I love the endocet. They work great for me. I really hope they work for you. Fingers crossed.
Alice are you changing to CVS? They told me they had qualitest but they changed to actavis also. I think a few other people mentioned that also. I have heard good things about qualitest so keep us posted. I used to take qualitest lortab and it was the only brand I would use. They ordered it for me. That was years ago. If qualitest doesn't work for you maybe you can find endocet also? I hear mixed things about all these generics. What works for one won't work for the next. It's really all in how your body reacts. I know people who don't like watson.
Hi lisa....yes...I saw ur post about the p.o..im still taking the endocet and its helped better than any other ive tried but I wish I got that burst of energy you mentioned and that I got from Watson's but no energy for me! As far as Actavis calling and doing an investigation. ..they did the same here my way. Ive received 2 letters from them. One acknowledging they have my info. ..the last saying since they didn't have a lot number, they couldn't investigate any further. I cant imagine it being that hard to track our meds. If I gave them the date I picked up my meds n from what store, all theyd have to do is look for the last shipment of their meds to that store n where that shipment came from n so fourth. ...dumbasses! Whatever. ..its not like I expectythem to tell me their crap is tainted n suxs!
Hi Alice,
Let me know if the Qualitest works for you. I'm trying to stick with the same pharmacist, because things are getting some complicated. When I went to get my script filled on a Sunday, the pharmacist asked me when I picked it up from the doctor. I told him I'd gotten that Friday. He said that was alright. Apparently, you have to wait 24 hours after getting the script, before getting it filled. That's something that I read somewhere, I have not confirmed it yet. I hope the Qualitest works for you, I've never used that brand. have a good day!
Imagine being a chronic pain patient x 16 yrs, and this new Dr just takes it upon himself to change all my meds, inc the norco 10/325 every six hrs. to 5/325 every 8 hrs. HELLO?, I am in excruciating pain. He puts me on 50mcg's of Fentanyl that makes me feel like a zombie in pain, yes still in pain like never before. Why change what worked?, for these patches which are extremely dangerous and do NOT take sciatic pain, occipital neuralgia, fibro..just to mention a few of my befuddling debilitating pains which have gotten much worse along with my busted knee and hips from a recent injury. Leave me with the Norco 10/325 without the patches, and none of this placebo effect, bogus Actavis/Watson?,(which is it?)Norco 5/325.
Imagine. ....ur dr took it upon himself to up you to fentanyl patches without u asking??? And liwered ur norco since he gave u the patch? If I understood that right....ur dr is a fool! Fentanyl is a much stronger drug than Norco! If all u took were Norco's and it worked well for u considering all ur ailments, for one, ur lucky a Norco kept u pain free considering n two , it makes no sense that he would up u to a stronger med?!? Im assuming u asked him what his reason was for changing ur script? Im really curious to know........and Jan, im not familiar with that 24 hr wait period to fill a script....I haven't read about it anywhere either.... I always go get my script filled after I leave the dr's office..the only time period im aware of is the earliest I can get my script filled is 48 hrs before what would be the 30th day since getting my script filled originally. So in otherwords...I get a 30 day supply and I can refill another script on day 28...
Absolutely NOT in fact I just started seeing this tyrant 3 months agowhen the PA asked me if I ever tried the patch I thought she was talking about lidoderm, never heard of Fentanyl till now. Every time Itryy asking why they're changing my 16 yr regimen his Filipino bad Lil temper goes off and starts assuming and spewing all kinds of unfair and untrue statements. Finally I asked to be referred to PM, I see them next Tuesday, I needed the hydro every 4 he's not every six he's, after 16 yrs that's what I thought he would do, but instead he almost killed me. First 25mcg, second week 50 mcgs, after 4 wks up to 100 mcgs, that's when I almost dropped dead and he had to lower my dosage to 50mcgs. No sir, I hate and am terrified of these patches.
sorry about all the type O's, bad pain day.
I have the same problem i wasnt informed about the manufacturer change,either..been on watson 10/325..for years 2...the actavais is deffinatly not the same!!!
Oh marie....im sorry. Are u on ur first script of another pain med besides Watson's or did the change to ur meds happen a few months ago?
Imagine. .....what happened at ur PM dr? U mentioned u had an appt. on tuesday (yesterday)?
Try going to a freds pharmacy they have ENDOCET and they are great...IDK where you live but good luck
Jennifer my friend takes endocet and she takes the 7.5/325 and she said certain batches seem stronger then others. Not in a bad way and never enough to go through any withdrawal or anything. But certain months when she gets a refill she will get more energy from taking one then previous. I haven't noticed a difference in the last. 2 months with mine. They seem the same. It makes sense though because they have different lot numbers. I am doing great on mine. I'm glad they are working best of all you tried so far. My other friend is still taking the actavis. She is sick from them but stuck with them. I don't know if I mentioned she thought she had the flu. I bet you that was withdrawal from the watson. She didn't even know she was taking them and thought they were still watson. She has no pain control now. It is ridiculous how they can even market them. I haven't heard anything good! Lola how are you doing? I never heard that about the scripts and having to wait. I get 3 months of scripts and fill as needed and when I'm all done I see the doctor and I get another 3 months. Maybe that is something new.
Hi lisa...are u saying ur dr use to write u one script ata time and u had to see him monthly and now he writes u a script with 2 refills so u only have to see him once every three months now? I wish my dr would do that. I only see him for a minute then hes on to the next. ..well I hope my next batch gives me a boost when I take em...honestly..I feel wore out n im noticing when I run up the stairs or am carrying something heavy...i feel like im losing my breath...I start sweating n start breathing heavier but its harder for me to breath....like I cant catch my breath. Never had this issue w Watson's n I know I need to tell my dr about this but im afraid he'll change my meds to something weaker n ill b in pain again. Have you noticed any breathing issues when ur heart beats faster while running or doing exercise. ..anything? As for ur friend, how long of a supply does she get when she fills her script? It seems like u first mentioned her awhile ago. ....and im assuming she has had another script since u first brought her up n if so, y did she get Actavis again?
Hi Jennifer, thanks x your concerns. I saw my new PM, wonderful Dr., he's putting me back on my reg _meds, and I weaned myself from 50mcg to 25(i cut them), to a Lil 1/4 piece of the fentanyl patch, which is about12mcg, and tonight I'm taking that off as well. Done with those scary patches, I don't like to feel lethargic in top of pain and nausea, cause the patch wasn't taking much of the pain away anyways, not as well as the 10/325
