Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 12)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

Hi jan....ive tried the shots in the back...didnt do a thing for me....the second one gave me a dumbing feeling for about half an hour but thats it. As for the euphoria feeling with pain pills...ive never had it nor do I care to get it. I assume that only comes with insufflating n injecting the pills from one who abuses it...I have yet to hear where someone who took their meds as prescribed n for legit pain gets a feeling of euphoria...anyway...im done addressing that fool below....

Hi Martin and all,

I hope everyone is feeling better. I'm still using the Mals, and they are still ok. The spinal epidurals work better though. I can't wait for the next one. The only thing is that you can only get 3 per year. Bummer! Hang in there all.

Hello Midiman,

I have not posted for a while, but thought I would check in today. I hope everyone is getting at least some pain relief. My doctor tried to tell me that I was probably addicted. But I noticed after my spinal epidural, my pill consumption was down to half the amount. The only reason I continued to take them, is my shoulder still hurts with activity. If you are not in extreme pain, you can cut down. I feel that addiction comes when people are not in pain, and just want that euphoric feeling. The pain medication doesn't even work the same, for non-pain patients. Trust me, I doubt if anyone on this site is addicted! They all sound like chronic pain patients to me. I have another spinal epidural scheduled, for the end of the month and I can't wait. Do you think someone who just wants to be high, would risk death ect. to have something inserted in their spine? I think not my friend.

Hello,

Ay hes Midiman, we are all addicts. Do you have a good therapist you can recommend lol. I think we all noticed the difference in Actavis and Watson right away. My guess is that the Watson brand had a higher dose, was too strong and many people overdosed from it. I beleive I read where Actavis bought out all of Watson's litigation pending. I just know when I took the Actavis it gave little relief and many side effects. I wasn't willing to risk MY life to take this Acatvis pill. We called them and they were very concerned about their product. Whats the lot number? etc. You can take it Mid, go for it braugh. I do actually take Actavis xanax and it is fine, but I would never take their Percocet as I believe it to be a bad drug and dangerous. Thanks

Oh my god! It kills me when ignorant, stupid people who make it known by what they post that they have no clue what theyre talking about.....Midiman.....its a KNOWN medical FACT not every manufacturer of the same drug all use the same formula..... instead of shooting off ur mouth, try zipping it n just keeping ur eyes open so u can research for urself how false u r. People like u are part of the problem. ..u take these meds that could potentially be dangerous, yet no nothing about what it is ur taking, WHAT ITS MADE OF, how it works n metabolizes in ur body, and the side effects and/or complaints from users.....ur an irresponsible drug user...n I say user cause all it seems u do is "use" the drug cause its obvious u know nothing about it....ur actavis. Because we have done our homework, doesnt make us addicts. ..its makes us responsible patients who share our knowledge and experiences with others to help keep one another informed n active in their pm plan....so go fly a kite! Well, go do some research, kick urself in the ass for telling us we dont know what we're talking about, then go fly a kite!

Midiman, mind sharing what other brands you say you have been using all these years? Are you an addict? Because you sound like you are nformed on the subject. Those of us on this thread are not addicts we are chronic pain sufferes who are in pain management. We don't get our drugs off the street. There is a difference in the generics and no it is NOT in our minds. Do your homework on the variances and how different generic companies have different binders and fillers that CAN affect different individuals before you post on here please. Thank you.

Midiman you got to be kidding. Do you actually believe we are all addicts. I think you posted this reply just to piss us all off. Have a nice day.

There is nothing wrong with the Actavis. Been using them for years... and several other brands. It's all in your head is MY opinion, but there is the slightest (and I mean freekin' slim) that the theory of some binder and inactive ingredients could possibly be the cause of all you addicts who are afraid of anything you haven't used or gotten used to. I see the same thing all over the place. It's addict thinking.

Lola,

sorry this is so late in evening. First chance I had to get to internet. I asked Walmart the manufacture for their Percocet. Shows on bottle as AMN and I didn't realize that was abrev for the brand. He had to look up as well. It is Amneal. I hope this helps. It has taken all the really bad feelings away as I have posted before. He did say they may switch sometimes so to ask each time if I like. Hope you fine one that works for you.

Hello everyone. I think we are getting scammed by Actavis. I have been taking Norco 10/325 for over a year now due to multiple back problems. I just noticed several months ago that the Norcos were causing stomach aches and other intestinal problems. I know Watson sold out to Actavis but the Norco still says Watson on the pills. I am not getting any relief from the medication and feel that Actavis is putting the Watson name on these pills. I am going to ask my doctor if he can prescribe something different. I am afraid to get Percocet because from what I read it is nearly impossible to find a pharmacy that carries anything but the Actavis brand. Does anyone know if any of the big named pharmacies such as CVS carries anything besides Actavis. Thanks

I will get refilled today and post again when I can. I have been getting 15 day supply to make sure it works for me. I don't see the manufacture's name on the bottle, but when I fill later I will ask and let you know. I had terrible stomach cramping and burning all day long with the Walgreen brand Activas and it is all gone. I do know these new ones are about half the size as well. Sorry I can't answer now, but I promise to get back to you. You can ask your doctor to let you bring back old script and let him dispose and let you try a new pharmacy if it is bad. Mine let me so I hope your's is as kind if you can't wait for my post tonight.

Lola and Jen,

How are ya? Im still here. Lola here is a copy of my latest post. hope it helps.
Wow quiet on here,

Anyways update from me. I am on the Mallinkrodt and keeping my fingers crossed so far so good. They work decent for pain. Not as good as Watson but they do work. And hardly any side effects. Maybe some constipation so far. been on them a week. The biggest thing with Mallinkrodt is I feel like they give me more energy or more importantly dont make me tired in the morning. So that is a big plus. I think that we all react differently to diff meds but so far the Mallins work well for me.
Anyone else?

Lola....ive tried the mallinkrodt before....they were ok....I feel as if the endocet is a tad better for me. I also dont think endocet has all that waxy coating that slows its metabolism down....I prefer it that way so it kicks in sooner. I think the mallinkrodt is worth a shot for u. Heres another interesting one on how the drug deterant meds work..........

Hi Jennifer, I tried the endocet a long time ago when this all first started and it didn't agree with me. Are you taking the endocet now? I think my doctor put me on percocet again because this time he raised it to the 10 mg. I used to take the 5 mg. and the percodan is only 5 mg. so I think for break thru pain. I don't know he doesn't talk so go figure. I am just happy to have at least something for pain but I am finding it harder and harder to even get the percocet filled unless I want Acta crap from Walgreens but NO WAY still have the old ones and never touched another one after that first incident. I wonder how many people are really taking that Actavis. I will have to read your article sounds interesting. MARTIN - if you are still reading these posts you mentioned awhile back you started taking the Mallinkroft how is it working for you if you don't mind sharing any info. Would like to get some input before I get another re-fill on the percocet.

Hey lola...Im sorry ur still going thru all this! Why did he put u on Percocet if Percodan has been working for u? Have u tried the endocet? I remember u saying something about them but I cant recall what. Have u or tracy read the article I posted? I found another article too about these 2 brothers who were pm drs who got arrested n r in prison for their huge pain pill operation in florida that seems to have been the beginning of the crack down that went on in Florida. I may post it for the hell of it. It seems the more u know, the more u understand what s going on....at least for me.

Hi Tracy, but which manufacturer are you using now? Which one does Walmart carry? I just got a new rx from my pm doctor and one of the rx is for percocet again. I dont know what to do because I am afraid to get another dud Still taking the percodan by Watson but he gave me the percocet now too. I have been to two mom and pop places and they are all liars. They tell you they dont even stock it yeah right - they just are so afraid of getting robbed.

Updating since a few weeks ago. I switched from Walgreen to Walmart on my Percocet. I can hold off longer to take the next one and the stomach burning and pains are all gone. Interesting. Especially since they are the same strength and about half the size. Thanks for all the advice everyone posted. It sure helped me.

Thank you all for your comments. At least I am not alone. And it is not me but the sell out Watson ti an INDIA company. Who really knows what we are taking. I know I had to get back on my stomach pills due to the side effect. I am wondering if doctors know this new percocet is not working? This new stuff is not working it seems for so many. I wish I could afford the real pill and not the generic. I just know it is not helping my pain go away
