I have 3 herniated disc in my lower back and severe nerve damage down my leg. I've been on Oxycodone 10/325 for the past 4 years. I have always gotten the Watson brand which would keep my pain under control somewhat up until the other day I was given Mallinkrodt brand because my pharmacy had ran out of Watson. These Oxycodone made by Mallinkrodt don't touch my pain what so ever. It's like taking a sugar pill. I'm in extreme pain and don't know what to do or how to go about this. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP
I have chronic pain due to multiple herniated bulging discs with pinched nerves and osteoarthritis plus chronic sciatica. I have been on endocet a 30 day supply than witched to Watson generic brand which hardly put a dent in the pain I was experiencing. The only generic brand for oxycodone was Mallinckrodt, but that's just me. They have a longer pain relieving affect. But everybody response differently to medications
Maybe my system adapts to Mallinckrodt cuz i have been on those longer than the others.
DMR76, I actually remember experiencing the same thing, the burning in my mouth, when I used the regular Mallinckrodt Oxycodone and their Morphine tablets. If they just touched my tongue for a second, when I was taking them, the burning sensation from whatever they use in their coating was awful and took quite awhile to go away.

I am very glad your pharmacy was able to remedy the problem for you!

Thanks for the info. I also forgot to mention the servere dry mouth and burning in the mouth with the Mallinckrodt. My Pharmacy recently got the Watson brand in and took care of it for me.
Since they are both generics for Percocet, which contain Oxycodone and Acetaminophen, there is probably a slight difference in the amounts of the active ingredients that they contain, when compared to each other.
Under U.S. federal law, the FDA does allow the generics to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredients. They consider this an acceptable therapeutic window and in many cases, the differences aren't significant enough to make a different and be noticeable.
However, with some generic medications, this creates a problem, because since they are only required to measure them against the name brand, this means there can be fluctuations when you switch from one generic to another.
Thus, the one you were taking that was manufactured by Watson may have contained the precise amounts of the active ingredient or, maybe even a little more, but the one that you have received from Mallinckrodt could actually contain less of them, so it may not handle your pain effectively.
And to be honest, we have had many complaints on here about the products manufactured my Mallinckrodt and their not being as effective as the same products from other brands.
The only thing I can suggest is talking to your pharmacy and asking them if they can order the ones manufactured by Watson and provide them for you, when you get your next refill.
