Watson Lortab Formula Change (Page 7) (Top voted first)

Updated

Does anyone know what Watson did or why they changed their formula for Lortab 10/500? It used to be blue and when I picked up my refill today they are now white. I still have a few days of my blue left but I swapped a few so I can try the white. I'm waiting for it to start working and I took it over 2 hours ago. My rx is 1-2 every 3 hours not to exceed 7 in a day. (my pm dr wants me on a stronger med but anything above hydrocodone makes me euphoric and I can't function) The blue color lortab starts to work within 15 mins. I took my first white color lortab 2 hours ago, waited an hour and took the 2nd and nothing. I will wait 30 mins longer and switch back to the blue until I run out. This sucks. I'm a full time law student, disabled, single mom and can't use my dominate arm because the pain level is too high. (My shoulder dislocates every time I move my arm, even after 3 surgeries the last one being a bone transplant to the shoulder.) Sorry about any typos, I am typing with my left hand and don't have the coordination in this arm/hand that I do with my right. Thank you for any information that you can provide me.

my husband gets dark yellow with a v imprint that works better than anything else I've tried. I get the white Watson and would trade for his all day long. a lot of people here are spending the money to get opana. I can cut s forty in fourths and one fourth will last all day. no Buzz just pain relief. they are very addictive. and expensive

hello grayson.you had mentioned that methadone has been working for you better then lortab 10/500?? also,do you feel you have energy at all with methadone,or have the urge to eat more? also,i was on hydrocodone 10/500 for more then 7 years, and all this time,it helped me a lot with the pain i had, after falling at work.and suffering from migraines, and a bad knee.but now, ever since i got the white the lortab,i feel that it is just numbing my brain, and the pain still there.any advice you have ,will be appreciated thanks.

No sweetheart. I've been on those same pain pills. Blue watson 10/500. The main reason I've preferred them for my pain is because even other 10/500 or 10/650 do not work as well as my BLUE Lortab 10. Yes, the prescription label reads 10mg hydrocodone/whatever amount of tylenol and yes they do have those exact amounts of each. The difference in the generic pills is the fact that there r different amounts of the buffers that they put in the pills and what buffers. So no they r not doing anything illegal. It's just the drug company making a cheaper pill to sell by making it seem the EXACT SAME. I've been on my Lortab 10's for 18 years and my mind is definitely not playing tricks on me. So yeah, that lawyer lady is exactly right.

Hi Moudira,

It's good to know that someone reads my posts. In response to your question, I would say that methadone would be a good idea. You will probably have to change doctors(to a pain specialist) because most doctors will refuse to give you what they think is such a strong drug. It is a strong drug in many ways, but they often imply that it is dangerous and addictive. Of course it is addictive. If your taking meds for pain that never seems to subside, you're supposed to be addicted to it. I think methadone is better for long term use than either oxy or hydro codone. In the beginning you will have some side effects until your body adjusts, so do not be discouraged. After a few weeks when you get your dosage correct, you will see that you feel much better and that your mind is clearer. You will actually feel different when you first wake up, but all the rest of the time you will feel completely normal. When you get your dosage correct you won't even know your on medication at all. There is one thing that you should know: methadone has a nasty withdrawal. It actually takes a couple of days before it starts, but it can be brutal including aches and pains other than the normal ones as well as nausia and vomiting. But as long as you take your scheduled amounts then everything will be fine. In fact you can prevent withdrawal with even smaller dosages than what you would normally take. Long before withdrawal sets in you will feel the pain that it is covering up by acting on what I think they call a g-receptor in your brain. You will be highly motivated to get more methadone long before thins get very bad, because as I said it takes a couple of days to set in. They do have methadone clinics where they give it out in a pink liquid to people who are trying to kick H, so this is always an option, if a situation arises where you don't have access to your pills(this means don't get arrested).
That being said, I highly recommend methadone for pain. You will feel normal again. Your life will be great again as long as you keep taking your daily dosage. I have been on it for over ten years, and I couldn't be happier. You can read all about it on line and make your own decision, but don't be discouraged by all the warnings because most of them are overstated and for the most part are bulls***. Just go to a pain specialist and see what he says. That's about it. If you have any more questions just make another post and I will get an email.

My issue or one of my many issues is the pharmacy. I have read that some say it's in your head some say it's true there is a difference. Regardless there is a difference being physical or mental, so don't make someone feel stupid or like a criminal for inquiring. Everyone is different so maybe it actually does effect them in different ways. The most accurate post I saw was the one saying about your body and what your have put into and what is going on with you digestion, that effects you. Don't think that just because someone is on a pain med they are drug seekers. I know many are but not all.

I was told by my Dr that I could take extra acetaminophen, Tylenol and the Norco, that should have the same result as the loratab.

This is not accurate. The same thing has happened to me, and more than 10 people that I have discussed the same subject with. Something is OBVIOUSLY different.

there.is no question that there is a difference n between the yellow vs white.on my last appt with my Pain Dr he advised he would have to cut back my meds to 3 a day. He claim/s its the fault of the government. 3 days later I took my son to see his pain dr. I asked him about the new dosage rules and he knew . Nothing about it. Sounds to me like we have 2 levels of pain clinics here in ky.
One can prescribe lower dosages s level 2 can continue to prescribe the amt the patient needs to function.I don't know how to find out if I'm right or not.

Let me ask you.....Did you swap for a few whites just to try them or did you go to the pharmacy and get a refill. Which one was it. I hate when people lie on the internet. Just tell the truth. It's not like anyone knows who the heck you are.

After the first of the year they are no longer able to give you anything that has more than 325mg of acetaminophen in it. My daughter works at a pharmacy and they had to ship them all back.

We all have to band together and complain about this to our governor and Please do so quickly and stay on them before some really gets hurt. With them not taking care of the pain and making us sick it is just going to cause more drug related problems.....

fertile I have a good relationship with my doctorand yes and 2014 you no longer can get 500 milligrams of Tylenol with any of the hydrocodone biet lortab like them percocet anything with that combination will be written as 325 milligrams of Tylenol I was getting Watson 10 milligrams 500 and in December my doctor decided they were going to change the prescription and wrote me out 10 325 hydrocodone I took it to the same drug store that I was getting the Watson and and and they were carrying quality fast that's the maker 10 325 with the V and yellow all I did was add a Tylenol with the pill and it still took the pain away that is what the drugstore was carrying in the 325 and the 500

I have been on pain meds for a few years now since diagnosed with fibromyalgia and arthritis. I received mild relief from hydrocodone until all the manufacturers started their constant reformulations. My doc kept switching my pharmacy as we chased the manufacturers who had not made the changes and she even got my insurance to approve name brand only, but it was too late, because those manufacturers had changed the formulas too. The only thing the newly reformulated ones did for me was either over-sedate me or give me horrible side effects from the multiple fillers and binders. As she tried me on multiple other meds we found that they were changing as well, including extended release pain meds like Morphine and OxyContin. The only thing they did for me was cause extreme sedation (sleeping 12-18 hours at a time) and breathing suppression. NO pain relief. I finally found excellent pain control with Opana ER. But that changed last month.Of course the pharmacy said there was NO change but the fact is it has become very unstable and instead of the medication releasing 3 times, it releases ONCE...after 7 hours! NO pain relief, and EXTREME sedation. It caused me such a problem with suppression of my breathing with my last dose that I stopped cold turkey. My final proof that there was NO hydromorphone in the pill was when I had ZERO symptoms of withdrawal. I have made-do with my Oxycodone given for breakthrough pain, but I only have 3 a day so I can't take them regularly and the effect is only about 3 hours, and that was reformulated this month as well. It no longer gives more than about 10% pain relief than before and it also causes extreme sedation. It doesn't cause the breathing suppression, but it is no longer effective as a pain reliever. For those of you yet to awaken to the fact that they are doing MUCH more than removing the dye in the pills, I'd like to remind you I had NO withdrawal from 160mg hydromorphone (Opana) a day. I have an appointment with my doc Tuesday to tell her I'm afraid to take Opana in its current unstable form, but I have little hope she will be honest with me about what is going on. I don't know what we have to look forward to in future in regards to pain relief, but I am losing hope in modern medicine.
