Watson Lortab Formula Change (Page 10) (Top voted first)

Updated

Does anyone know what Watson did or why they changed their formula for Lortab 10/500? It used to be blue and when I picked up my refill today they are now white. I still have a few days of my blue left but I swapped a few so I can try the white. I'm waiting for it to start working and I took it over 2 hours ago. My rx is 1-2 every 3 hours not to exceed 7 in a day. (my pm dr wants me on a stronger med but anything above hydrocodone makes me euphoric and I can't function) The blue color lortab starts to work within 15 mins. I took my first white color lortab 2 hours ago, waited an hour and took the 2nd and nothing. I will wait 30 mins longer and switch back to the blue until I run out. This sucks. I'm a full time law student, disabled, single mom and can't use my dominate arm because the pain level is too high. (My shoulder dislocates every time I move my arm, even after 3 surgeries the last one being a bone transplant to the shoulder.) Sorry about any typos, I am typing with my left hand and don't have the coordination in this arm/hand that I do with my right. Thank you for any information that you can provide me.

Oh yes there is a difference in the blue and white Lortab. I took the blue awhile back. My pharmacy always had blue Watson. On the white it never said Watson. There is a difference, the white does not work as well and it's not in my head. Go tell that to an i****.

Kose, Watson Pharmaceutical acquired Actavis Group in 2012. In 2013, Watson changed their name to Actavis.

I feel the same way and I have heard the same thing from a lot of other people as well that it seem as thou it really doesn't seem to work as well and I was also on morphine as well and was took off it and changed to methadone 10 Mg. Tablets twice a day and after about a year I was moved up to 3 tablets a day and they switch me from Hydrocodone 10/500 Mg. Then to Oxycodone 10/500 and now I see they don't even make the 10/500 Mg. Anymore from what I'm told so the have been switching me back and forth between the Hydrocodone 10/325 and Oxycodone 10/325 about every 3 months. I just don't know what they have done but I know one thing if it gets to Where they are not working rite I'm either going to start calling other states to see what kind of help I can get with my pain I'm even considering going to a state where marijuana is legal because I will admit that I took one hit off a joint about a year ago rite after my doctor gave me a drug panel so that I knew it would be out of my body by the time I had to take my next drug panel and I have to say after just two hits off that joint my pain level was the lowest it has been in year's. Why don't they make it legal everywhere?

I've had the same problem. .. They have figured out how to take out the euphoric ability of the drug . And now they make your heart pound and u feel no relief . I've called Watson and complained . They have got together with federal gov. Hoping do lesson the amount of people on pain mess . Basically making the drug not fun to lesson the wish to do it . But it's just frustrating people and moving them
To stronger meds.

Any hydrocodone/APAP combination is no longer available in 500 mg acetaminophen. The FDA lowered it to no more than 325mg because of liver and kidney damage. Vicodin only has 300 mg. I have major back problems coupled with fibromyalgia. I take Mallinckrodt brand because eith the filler or binder tears up my stomach. I actually would rather live in constant pain than live taking Watson brand. Hope's this helps some

This is directed to Angela. What state do you live in. And are you going to a pain management clinic to get morphine and hydrocodone. My rheumatoligist has had me on hydrocodone for 7 years. Of course I now have built up a tolerance. I have severe R.A. And he said I would have to go to pain management for anything stronger. They want 300.00 first visit and 150.00 a month there after. And I am on a fixed income and can not afford the cost.

I'm sorry- but in California it is still legal to call in or fax in a script for hydrocodone. As I said before- I have Kaiser, and I get 6 months refilled without a Dr. visit. Also when I use an outside Pain man Dr., they too call it in after my appt. As long as the script hasn't changed and you are using the same pharmacy every month during each valid script issue- it CAN be called in. As for other states- I am not sure as the scheduling for this medication varies by state. It is each Dr.'s individual choice as to whether they want to do it or not.

Yes the dea has changed the lortab. We now take Norco because as of January 1,2014 all of them will have 325 Mg instead of 500 because it's causing liver damage! The Norcos don't work for me because I have Multiple Sclerosis and Chronic pain!!! I spoke with my neurologist today and he's gonna work on me taking something stronger. The white Watson 540's that used to be blue or the M363's will be used until the end of November and then they're gonna come out with the reformulated ones. I hate their doing this because you have some people who abused the lortabs or whichever so their livers would be messed up!!! I have chronic pain every day and gotta take way more Norcos than I would tabs. I'm supposed to take them 4 times a day and they do not work!!!

@69GTO- my reply was to you. I am under the strict supervision of a pain management doctor. I am highly monitored and my blood levels checked every 6 months because of the amount of tylenol I take. If you read my last reply, I mentioned he wants me on a stronger medication. I simply cannot take anything stronger than Hydrocodone. The side effects are too much for me to handle, the stronger meds make me higher than a kite. I'm trying to be as functional as possible and even though the stronger medications work better the side effects out weigh the benefits therefore, I refuse them. Before seeing a pain management specialist, my primary care physician prescribed the medication but because I've been on them so long I have built up a tolerance. So once 4 per day didn't work anymore I was sent to a pm doctor. I am low income, and it's a struggle to see him. On the months that I have to see him I have to go days without eating; and only partially pay my electric bill. Many will see cash only patients as long as they pay up front as they will not bill for their services. My suggestion to you is, call your local hospitals and check to see if they have a pm department. Usually the pm doctors that work out of a hospital will see anyone that is referred by another doctor. This is how I found mine. He works out of the hospital around me. I see him every 3 months. I wish you the best of luck. Pain sucks.

Hydrocodone IS the schedule 2 med...it is the active pain ingredient in all of those NAME BRAND meds (lorcet, lortab).

Has anyone tried the cold water extraction on these Crappy White Watsons? If so, did it help to get rid of the nasty side effects from these new fake Watsons?... Did it help with pain better??? I have degenerative disk disease in my neck & im in extreme pain without my Meds. My Doctor gave me a months supply nine days ago, and I knew Watson took the color out, so I wasnt worried when I seen mine were white. But the first day I took them I knew something was wrong! Someone else posted that they noticed pain relief for about an hour & then, nothing. Its the same way with me. These "New Pills" are CRAP!!! They're trashy... they make my skin crawl & itch, and they make me grouchy! I cant believe they can still have Watson printed on them, but they're not even Watsons anymore... I just cant believe that was allowed, and Im extremely angry my pharmacy didnt tell me the company had changed! I DO NOT like Mallincrot or Qualitest... more often than not, the pills I've gotten from those companies are the same way these new Watsons are. So I guess I'll have to go with the Amneil IP's next month. The IP's, in my opinion, were always second best compared to Watson, and I guess now, they're going to be my only option. But for now... Im stuck with three weeks worth of pills that just barely help with my pain, and make me itch and make me so grouchy I just about cant stand to be around anybody. So again, has anyone tried the cold water extraction?

Your right they don't work, I went ahead and got the original hydrocodones for 230.00 and they worked great I've tried all the generic brands and none of them do anything but make me feel lots worse and they give me a headache.

I used to take lortab awhile back, unfortunately I raised my tolerance by taking to many and they quit working all together for me, same thing for everyone I know almost. Some people I know would only use certain pharmacies just so they could get the lortab made by McNiel. The 10mg's were just big and pink, but the 5mg and the 7.5mg were speckled, one with blue speckles the other with green. Everyone, including myself used to be able to tell they worked the best. It doesn't make sense really, everyone in my family and most people I talked to about the speckled ones whose taken them agrees. It got to where people I know , including myself would make sure the pharmacy had the McNiel lortabs , or they would find one that did, so is it really just in people's heads.... One other thing, other people have been complaining about the white lortabs also, there's at least 4 companies that make lortab, lorcet, and norco... Stick with hydrocodone, because schedule 2 drugs are too addictive.

As far as I know nothing, my dad gets the blue Watson 10/500 and just got his refill last week. So it sounds like the PHARMACY you are using their supplier has changed probably because of price the Watson are a little bit more expensive.
