Konsyl’s customer service had told me by email (from Gail D. Murray: gmurray@konsyl.com): “Konsyl has suspended product shipments as of May 31st due to a quality defect in one of the products.” Gail Murray and Konsyl in general stopped responding to my subsequent messages asking what the quality defect was. At the time they were saying that they will start distributions again early October, but they keep delaying, so it must be something serious.

I am only interested in unsweetened psyllium, and not capsules. I later wanted to get psyllium from Solgar online and found that it is out of stock as well. I contacted their customer service expressing my concern about Konsyl’s “quality defect” and Solgar’s answer was: “Our Psyllium Husk Powder (Prod. No. 2310) was discontinued due to lack of consumer interest.” I am not sure that I believe them. Maybe they just wanted to avoid the issue.

Then, I have been getting the “CVS Health Natural Fiber Supplement,” which mimics Konsyl Original. But now its online availability is out of stock again. I am contacting their customer relations asking the same questions, we will see if they respond. Maybe I will try Nutricost as Bob suggests.

Yes, I would not be surprised if it is a chemical issue, such as excessive lead, in some source of psyllium. I hope others join me in pressuring Konsyl to reveal what exactly was the quality defect and potential safety implications. Their customers are entitled to this information.

Thank you for the Post. I am Prediabetic and Gluten Intolerant. But will give that a try. Really concerned that Konsyl issue has not gone more public. Many people on down the road could be very sick. Many good post on here. Needs to be reported to Media!!!

My husband uses Konsyl and we were wondering why we could not find it in stores and I found this thread. Is there a product with the same ingredients that are like Konsyl that he can buy while waiting for Konsyl to become available again?

There are similar products on the market. I have seen them at Walmart and RiteAid and I am sure other drug chains have them. Look for psyllium husk as the main ingredient. The ones I have seen have a bit less fiber than Konsyl and they also have sugar (sucrose) added, but they should give similar results.

I have tested a few of the other products out there and for me, they do not work nearly as effectively. But I am sure everyone will react to them a little differently.

Yes and so strange there is nothing on Konsyls website except ‘Back Soon’ on the products.

I too have tried other supposedly similar products and they don’t work plus they have a lot of sugar.

I just did a quick search on the web and you can buy whole psyllium husk from many sources. It may be a viable alternative to Konsyl. I’m going to try a small container and see how it does.

I do see on one of the containers where the State of California says- Warning may cause Birth Defects for PG women??? What does that mean? I have found several drugstores now that have a few. I am asking them to hold for me.

These products will not give similar results if you are Gluten intolerant and Prediabetic.
The sugar alone sends me into problems. I dont't get it -other than the mfg does not want to be sued. This is in no way fair to the consurmer that needs the Gluten free/sugar free formula. The fact that the mfg would say it can cause Birth defects with no other info is ridiculous.

I was on the auto ship for Konsyl and they never notified me at all. I found out I ran out of it and emailed them. They said there was a quality problem with international shipments and to be safe, stopped production on U.S. shipments as well. Their customer relations leave a lot to be desired. The Original will be available in Nov. at Wal-Mart, but they had no timeline when or if the Easy Mix (what I take) would be available. Lousy communication to their loyal customers!

Still nowhere to be found but Amazon where prices have been increased due to unavailability. I have tried other products that do not work the same. Definitely have not been feeling well since I have been unable to use it.
