Warfarin - Finger Prick Or Blood Taken Intravenously
UpdatedHave been taking warfarin for quite a few years now for antiphospholipid syndrome. I have recently had quite extensive dental work done. I have had lots of issues with bleeding which resulted in my having a vitamin k shot, and a few trips to A & E. Can anyone tell me the difference between having blood taken by finger price or taken intravenously? Yesterday I had to have my INR repeated at the dentist request. Taken by finger it was 1.7 which is low and out of range for me. The I had to have bloods done and my INR intravenously came out at 4.2!! so which is the correct reading?? I Have been told not to take any warfarin for 2 days. If I went along according to the finger price test, the clinic was going to boost my warfarin dose? none of this makes sense to me. Can anyone help with this please. Karen x
