Want To Wean Off Fentanyl Patch
UpdatedI have been on 25mg every 72 hrs for 5 months went up to 50mg every 73 hrs for 3 patches then up to 75mg for 6 patches now dropped to 25mg on once in 72 hours. What can expect--want to wean off?

Hi, Beth!
Have you talked to your doctor about this, yet?
Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic and you've been taking it for several months, so it isn't safe for you to just abruptly stop. Doing so creates the risk of your developing rebound pain and withdrawal symptoms. Stopping is usually best down via a very slow taper, for instance your doctor may have you lengthen the time span between when you apply the patches.
