Walgreens Methodaone-

I have been on pain medication for 12 years. I need methodone 10 mg #135. I can't get it without an average of 10 pharmacies. I'm luck to get it at all. Pharmacies say they won't order in advance. I live in Altamonte Springs but would travel a distance to get it. Any sugestions.

Well, the main issue here is that there were certain laws that pharmacies in various areas of the U.S. were found to not be enforcing and the FDA and DEA are cracking down now to make them do so.

They are actually only allowed to order and keep in stock a certain amount each month and many were exceeding that amount regularly and just ordering in more whenever they had a customer that needed it, or to just have it in stock. However, since there are yearly manufacturing limits, this was adding to the shortages that are usually experienced during the last few months of the year.

So, they can't order in advance, because it's most likely that they've already ordered their allotted amount for the month and, if they are out, they can't order more in until the following month.

Another problem may be due to the number that your prescription is written for, there are now very strict regulations regarding that, as well. You said it's for 135 and that doesn't divide out to an even number for 30 days, which is what the prescription should be written for and that may make some pharmacies reluctant to fill it.

On top of that, you won't be able to travel out of your area to get it filled, because of the ordering and stocking limits that I've already mentioned. That has made most pharmacies limit their customer base for such things to only regular customers that live within a certain distance radius of their store.

And yes, I know, I've explained the problems but not really given you any solutions, so on to an idea for that...


if you have insurance, I'd suggest seeing if they have a preferred mail order pharmacy that you can use. Many people have been able to use them to get their narcotic prescriptions filled, when they couldn't get their medications at a brick and mortar pharmacy. They usually don't have as large of a customer base, so their stock lasts longer.

Thank you , the reason why my prescriptions are flr 135 which is an un even number is that when i was going to pharmaceys they would have methodone in stock but not the amount needed. I solved this problem by having the nurse fill out prescriptions for two weeks instead of a month. Even with that i may go to 12 pharmaceys which is all I have in the area. Thank you for helping me understand the pharmaceys issues. I do Not have insurance. However undeerstanding the BS pharmaceys go through is helpful because I plan to go to. My congresman about legestlation. Those of us that are in pain are a good percentage of the community. Not only are patients effected but families also. Florida already has a computer system interlinked so it is very hard for anyone to get multiple filled. Hell i can hardly get mine filled. If those of us effected Patients, doctors, pharmacies contact our congresman We can probabley change things. Please make the. Call, write a letter, if your able to get a petition etc. We are numerouse. Its time to make the wheel squeek to get some greese.
