All pharmacies in Florida have been put on notice by a memo from the DEA that the DEA rules concerning the amount of 30mg Oxycodone that can be dispensed under the old out-dated rule (600 per month) will be enforced, rest easy this case was filed in DC & E VA. Walgreen Co. v. Holder, 12-1397, the outcome will set a new legal precedent for the DEA to follow.
The DEA is playing with Florida over Oxycodone the way they are with medical pot in CA.

Walgreens internal policy. The Walgreens I do business with leaves several copies of an internal form that they have to fill out each time a customer comes in to fill Oxycontin, MS Contin, and Methadone adjacent to the window where you go to drop off your scripts. Excluded from the list are the instant release medications and fentanyl patches.
When Walgreens started using these internal forms, I had one of the regular pharmacists tell me to never bring in my Class 2 scripts on a weekend as each and every time you bring in a Class 2 script, they have to phone your doctor and ask them some specific questions. A few weeks later I spoke with the manager who I have known for 12 years and told him what the other pharmacist told me about not bringing in my scripts on the weekend. The manager told me to have the doctor write the diagnosis on each script and they could fill on the weekends.
I read some of the questions and instructions from Walgreens internal form that they use to call your doctor and for the pharmacist to use to decide if he/she will fill them for you. The internal form warns the pharmacists of the following red flags, paying with cash and no insurance is a big read flag, filling early, new customer from out of town and out of town doctor.
I asked the manager why Walgreens created their internal form (they are not allowed to show their customers this form but I happened to see a stack of them on the counter as I mentioned earlier in this post). The manager told me that several Walgreen pharmacies in Florida were filling obscene quantities of class 2 meds and the DEA shut those pharmacies down but caused problems for all of the Walgreen pharmacies nationwide.
I asked a manager and pharmacist from a CVS that is located directly across the street from this Walgreens if they were required to fill out a questionaire type of form like Walgreens internal form and call the patients doctor prior to filling the class 2 meds listed above and he told me no form was required and the patients doctor did not have to be called prior to filling unless of course a script looked like it was forged.
Just thought I would pass along this information.
Orlando has become a unfriendly place for patients in need of pain medicine. Recently they even changed the classifacation of a low pain medicine to a higher classification! How can they get away with this? How can they raise a class 3 medicine's, like hydrocodine-Norco- that has been a class 3 for at least 50 years suddenly someone decides to raise the medicine up to a class 2 mediine to make it even harder for patients to get filled. What kind of world do we live in? Excuse for doing this was to make it harder for abusers to get the medicine. Good lord. did you forget their are legitament patience out here that dont' abuse the medicine? I know there has to be more legitament patients then there is abusers! I want to add that i hope who ever is running this prescription drug war that they all come down with something that is Very painful and they are turned down for pain medicine and they suffer!
walgreens horrible they judge everyone when you go to the counter and it is up to the pharmacist
Personally, I just find it very sad that so many people are suffering, because they can't get their needed medications. However, the problem isn't just isolate to Walgreens in Florida, people have been having trouble getting them from pharmacies all over the U.S. Thank you for sharing the informative link.
Walgreen's every where are refusing to fill scripts for controls. I had a pharmacist at walgreen's refuse to fill a script for tramadol. Yes tramadol yesterday. Why? He didn't feel " comfortable ". I rarely even have scripts for controls to fill! I had to go to the ER due to an injury! Well walgreen's lost my business!!!
You can get them if you payoff the Pharmacist from my understanding the Walgreens in Boca Raton off of St. Andrews Blvd will fill if you have and extra 300.00 a moth to pay off one of their employees. I have heard that from so many people. I have not been able to fill at all July and Aug. I am in critical pain like each and everyone of us.
This is bull s***. I cant even get the 30 IR morphine.
Chrissy they have Florida on lock now they need to give the real patients their meds!! Hats off to them!! Now they need to balance it out and realize what the medicine was made for!! Frustrating...from a fellow Cpp... in Fl. CVS is one place that I just have never filled anything in the past, as a result they always turn me away. No problem. I just skip CVS
