Will The Clindamycyn Work As Well If Not Better This Time
UpdatedHi my name is Sharon and I got bitten by a spider I believe while visiting my daughter in an area where spiders are more prevalent. I ended up hospitalized and getting MRSA from this. The doctors told me we have staph and MRSA all over our bodies and the least little cut can cause MRSA or Staph to enter the body. Especially under the layers of our skin. I was so afraid to go to the ER for this because it was so bad, it started out small with 2 little holes on the raised part of the area. But my doctor called me in amoxicillin to fight this infection. I knew it was infected because it got very red, hard to where if I touched it it left my finger imprint in my skin. It started spreading and getting larger before took the amoxiclllin, this antibiotic softened the area relieved much pressure from my leg but something wasn't right. The center got very mushy soft (my skin) and it started peeling away; the skin. I went to lift a part of the skin that was peeling and there was a large hole about 2" deep and 2 and a half inches wide under this layer of skin. I got so scared and my daughter was livid at me for not going sooner, but she felt terrible because all i did was cry, I thought I'd Lose my leg. The hole was so big. The hospital said it was MRSA. I remained on clindamycin intravenously for 5 days. They were making me take probiotics with it as well. The doctors cut a 2 and a half inch wide and 2 inch deep hole in my leg to make sure all the MRSA was gone and all the infection which turned to MRSA. It was a sight u never saw before and never want to see again. the clindamycin worked like a miracle. The first 3 to four days the pain was severe due to how raw it was. As a couple days went by and I started using Dial soap to wash it but at first I must admit I was afraid to touch it. But it ended up fine. I got back to my daughters and it took about 3 weeks to walk normal again. Now on the same leg not far from my huge scar that's been since February to March that it was active. It is well under control. 8 have another boil type looking thing on my leg, the same leg and I was told by skin specialists That once you have MRSA, YOU'LL ALWAYS HAVE IT. What u have there now is red hard tight and scaring me. I called my primary Dr. He called me in clindamycin. Will this work and stop it from spreading to what I had before? Please give me good news. It's nowhere near where it was when they hospitalized me. Thank you so much.

Hello, Sharon! How are you? I am very sorry about what happened to you.
Regarding MRSA, it isn't that you always have it, but having had it once makes you more susceptible to catching it, again.
And yes, the Clindamycin may help prevent it from getting worse. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
Has there been any change, yet?
