I m 38 years old working women.I hv Acne vulgaris Gr.II-III on my face since last 2/3 months.I took Cap. Minoz OD for 10 days but no change seen. I did blood test , lipid , SGOP- SGPT test. Reports are normal, my Periods are normal. My dermetologist suggested Capsule Tretiva and roxid 150.I will start it from today. Is that will fully cure my acne? does it harmful? How much time it will take to cure. I want my face fully clear from acne free and blemishes free, scar free.Pl. reply

my daughter has a stye in the eye n the doctor prescribed ROXID 150 but she is getting severe stomach cramps with it ... have discontinued the drug but the stomach cramps still continue what should I do ?? plz let me know urgently... thanks

Why do I need this medicine? Roxid 150 is an antibiotic. It is used to treat certain bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, lungs or skin.

Roxid 150 belongs to a group of antibiotics called the macrolides.
How do I take this medicine? Take Roxid 150 exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Take Roxid 150 at regular intervals as instructed. Take it at the same time each day. Do not skip any doses. Continue to take it even when you feel better. You must complete the entire course of antibiotic. If you don't, the infection will not clear completely.

Take Roxid 150 on an empty stomach before meals, with plenty of water. This will improve the absorption of Roxid 150.
What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine? Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine? Alert your doctor if you have a history of allergic reactions (breathlessness, rashes, swollen mouth or eyes) to similar antibiotics such as clarithromycin, erythromycin or any other macrolide antibiotics.
What should I take note of while taking this medicine? Inform your doctor if you suffer from heart, liver or kidney disease.

Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What side effects could I experience? You may have diarrhoea, nausea and stomach discomfort while being treated with Roxid 150. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. If you have diarrhoea, drink lots of water to replace the fluids lost. However, if you have severe diarrhoea or diarrhoea with severe stomach cramps or bloody stools, alert your doctor.

If you develop rashes, breathlessness, swollen mouth or eyes, stop the medicine and inform your doctor quickly. These could be signs of an allergic reaction.
Can I take this with other medicines? Do not take Roxid 150 with terfenadine, cisapride, pimozide, astemizole and colchicine -- alert your doctor immediately if you are taking any of these medicines.

Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially those listed here:

- heart medicines, especially digoxin, quinidine, disopyramide
- migraine medicines such as ergotamine
- warfarin (a blood-thinning medicine)
- lovastatin and other similar cholesterol medicines
- antifungals such as fluconazole, itraconazole and ketoconazole

Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal medicines and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Are there any restrictions on the type of food I can take? Avoid alcohol.
How should I store this medicine? Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
