Vyvanse Tolerance Issues

Hello all,

I am a 21 yo male and I have been on Vyvanse for close to four months now. I was prescribed 30mg pills for ADHS at the begging of the summer and really noticed a huge difference in my overall performance at work and in dealing with people. After two months I noticed the effects seemed to taper off earlier throughout the day and only last around 5-6 hours. I then decided to take one pill in the morning and one at mid day as to combat this "come down" earlier on. At the end of 15 days I was out of the drug due to working many days straight and not taking breaks form my medication. At my last Dr. visit I asked to be bumped up to 50mg due to this tapering effect. The doctor obliged and once I filled my script I was back to the normal effects. Unfortunately the past couple of days I have noticed I am getting an increased effect in the morning when I take the 50mg, so much so that my hands and feat become cold... similar to effects I have heard friends on adderal describe, and a waning during the middle of the day! I do not want to double up as I did before for the sake off my overall health, tollerance level, and in order make sure my script does not finish earlier than it should. Unfortunately I have noticed some side effects such as headaches, increased aggression and irritability during the latter parts of the day, and a decreased hunger, but I do keep a normal eating schedule. I also notice a difference whenever I am not on the drug with my overall focus and attention as well as motivation. Any advice or helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It might be a good idea to talk to your doctor about using a time released medication, such as Adderall XR.

Learn more Adderall XR details here.

It's a stimulant used to treat the same types of conditions as the Vyvanse, but it releases the medication slowly throughout the day, so it may help longer, while avoiding the immediate rush you're experiencing when you take it in the morning

The side effects are also similar and can include loss of appetite, nervousness, insomnia and nausea.

Does anyone else have any suggestions to add?
