Voltaren Gel Interaction With Ibuprofen

I just put voltaren gel (about one inch) on my friend and he also had ibuprofen 400mg; what is the likelihood that this will cause an adverse reaction?

The risks aren't very high, since the not much of the topical gel is absorbed, but if he starts to get severe stomach pain, or vomiting blood, he should seek medical attention, according to the NIH.

Have they both been prescribed for him?

Other side effects may include headache, skin irritation, redness, and dryness.
