Vitamin D2 1.25mg (50000 Unit) (Top voted first)
UpdatedDo you take this supplement at night or with meals? When are you supposed to take it?
What is the reason a Dr. would perscribe Vit D2 1.25 MG (50,000 Unit)?
I was very tired so my dr. took blood work and found out I was low on Vitamin D. He put me on 51,000 units and after a few weeks, a person who never ate is now eating NON-STOP, 24-7 and gaining so much wgt. Help!! Anyone else?
My doctors secretary's called me and told me I had low vitamin d and they doctor prescribed 1.25

I was prescribed 50, 000 iu vit d because mine was low. It 100% took all my leg pain away! It was a miracle for me as my legs hurt daily!
I was put on vitamin D2 1.25 mg. I began to eat more ( weight gain ) for sure. I do have to take it for 4 months. It worries me a lot because I have liver decease and high blood pressure. among other illnesses. Last thing I want is more heart problems. Can someone give me some advise.
Hi all, my Vitamin-D is 10 mg/ml as the blood report reads. normal is 25 - 80 mg/ml.
I am starting to take D2 1.25 50000 units weekly for 12 week. I have read all the negative comments, but when someone takes a drug and has no side affects most are not going to come here. No reason to.
When you go to a restaurant and the food and service is great, do you tell the manager. If you have bad food and horrible service you are probably going to talk with the manager or owner. That is our nature.
I will post back after my first dose and give my opinion, positive or negative.

I was prescribed Vit D2 today with all the reading above. I'm scared now. I don't want to gain more weight. I'm actually trying to loose weight.
Overdose on Vitamin D2 is very unlikely if you are taking 50,000 IU's once a week. Even if you took your entire 8 week prescription all at once, overdose would be unlikely. Please take a look at the page on Overdose on Vitamin D to see why this is unlikely. What is more likely is that you are simple experiencing negative side effects from the Vitamin D. This is a separate problem from Vitamin D overdose.

How long did it take to relieve your leg pain? Also, did you have head sweating?
My blood test showed I also needed D2 (50000 unit). I now cannot seem to quit eating and eating! I took 1 capsule a week for 8 weeks. I will not take anymore !!!
You should take vitamin d with some sort of fat- any meal is fine. But you should be aware that taking D2 is NOT the recommended form of Vitamin D. Please take a look at the page on Vitamin D3 to see why that is preferred.
You may also be interested in taking a look at this page on Magnesium and Vitamin D to see why it's not the best idea to 'just' take large doses of Vitamin D without taking magnesium to prevent some of the adverse effects that can occur with large doses of Vitamin D.
