Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 53)
UpdatedHaving problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
Re: Roxann (# 1039)
It is just a generic brand sold by Kroger store (King Soopers in my area). It is just labeled "Kroger Sterile Eye Drops Redness Relief", with the ingredients I listed previously.
Has anyone purchased Allergex from a website called zimseller?
Hello Dan, Thanks for your response. Seems difficult to believe that a generic brand would work as well as Visine LR, but I may give the Kroger brand a try. I have been using Lumify, but it truly is costly for just a little bottle.
Re: Deb (# 1043)
Deb, just look for the blue Kroger box "Sterile Eye Drops" and "Redness Relief" under that. You will NOT be disappointed, plus it'll only cost you about $3, let us all know what you think!
Re: Rhonda (# 1032)
Hi Rhonda, I don't know if you saw my post here, or if this simple solution would work for you. For me it is as good as the original Visine LR for redness relief and tired eyes. It is just a generic brand sold by Kroger stores (King Soopers in my area). It is just labeled "Kroger Sterile Eye Drops Redness Relief". My post on here gives the ingredients, but who cares about that, it works and it's about $3 a bottle.
Well it seems like there are still bottles of Visine LR out there in 2020... I just got a couple boxes on ebay {aff link} when I was going to reorder my Allergex. I paid a little more than I'd like but it was worth it as expired Visine LR is still better than Allergex! I found the old product still works quicker and lasts longer than Allergex plus it has nicer looking white. I missed this stuff so much that I figured I'd stock up while it was still available. Hopefully you all have some luck finding some as well!
Re: Dan (# 1045)
Hi Dan!
Thanks! I'm going to look for those. I'm in the Las Vegas area, so I did a search of "Kroger Sterile Eyedrops" and it looks like they may be at our local Smith's grocery store. Online, it's listed at a very cheap price. It would be great if they work for me.
Lumify does the trick for my eyes, but ugh! I'm sorry, just too doggone expensive, especially now. Am I ever going to settle into another job again? Thankful not to be homeless, but there but for the grace of God go I, you know? It's like one super-long recession for me.
Anyway, good luck to everyone trying to find what works well for you.
Re: Rhonda (# 1047)
Hi Rhonda, that must be a Kroger brand store like mine. Be sure and get the box that says "Redness Relief" on it, since both boxes look almost alike. I'd be really interested to know if they work for other people as well as they work for me, I use it every day...because they are so cheap. Let me know!
Re: Rhonda (# 1047)
I think there is a generic for Lumify but you need a prescription for it since it’s a higher strength or you could also get a compounding pharmacy to make the strength the regular strength if the generic is too strong
The generic name is Brimomidine and I use it every day and it works as well as Lumify but cheaper
It’s the same ingredient in NASAL SPRAY Oxymetazoline ?? Look it up on Wikipedia/Google or go to Target or Walmart online and search for Oxymetazoline.
Buy the Nasal Spray that you squeeze and sniff. 1 drop is .050% equivalent to 2 drops of Visine LR which has .025%
I suppose if you normally only use 1 drop at a time you could dilute it 1:1 with Saline in a sterile container.
I buy Equate Maximum Strength Nasal Spray, Fast Powerful Congestion Relief For Colds and Allergies, 1 Fluid Ounce Is $1.88 at Walmart. This size is equivalent to 2 bottles of Visine Eye drops which are .5 oz
Re: Roxann (# 1038)
Do you know what is the name (brand and generic) of these drops?
I bought some today 04/05/2021 at Mobil in Chicago with some cbd gummies.
Re: Red in the Eye (# 30)
Upneeq is a new product with the same ingredient, rx only 105 a month and made to lift the eye. I wonder if that company had something to with Ocuclear and Visine LR vanishing.
Re: Meenal (# 1030)
I have tried samples of Upneeq (oxymetazoline HCL .1 %) which really helped my droopy eyelid which was affecting vision. I didn't like the fact that the pharmacy which sells it had an exclusive right to sell this and didn't accept insurance and had raised their prices 67 percent in the last year, so I found other drops with oxymetazoline HCL. Was the Visine drop effective at the lower concentration? I have ordered the Cendro Asthenof to try which is 1/4 concentration of the prescription.
Re: Rhonda (# 1032)
This may sound crazy, but growing up my sister had severe red eyes due to allergies and the Dr. prescribed drops with cocaine (HCL or CL possibly) and rose hips or rose water. They got rid of redness and itching very effectively. Something you might want to ask the Dr. about.
Re: Melikahiwa (# 1053)
It absolutely did! The company making Upneeq wants to have a monopoly on the ingredient in eye drops so they can drive prices up.
Re: Melikahiwa (# 1053)
It had Everything to do with the disappearance of all its competitors. And...once the competitors were bought off, they raised the price dramatically.
Re: Jeff (# 1055)
As you would expect, you can no longer get this!
Re: Melikahiwa (# 1053)
I thought the exact same thing. And I paid $145 for 45 vials (1 dose for both eyes) which was a "discounted" price. My theory is that Upneeq is much more costly for the consumer= bigger profit for pharma. Furthermore, it states that rebound redness "may" occur as no studies have been done after 45 days.
Basically, they found that a concentration of 0.10% helped with ptosis(eyelid drooping) and now Oxymetazaline is only available with a prescription and now holds the brandname "Upneeq". $150 for a 30-day supply. I'm scared to try the Afrin, but I may do so to see how it works...
