Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 43)
UpdatedHaving problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
I use Opcon A from B&L, is that the same as the advanced eye relief? The Opcon A stings s bit but leaves my eyes clear.
Opcon A is different. The Bausch & Lomb Advanced Eye Relief (Redness) this is on the bottle. It does not sting. I found it at WalMart for $2.98 a bottle.
You need to just give in and use the Afrin added to any Artificial Tears drop, and you'll get the same results you had with Visine LR. EXCEPT, do not mix it as strong as most people have suggested on this site.
I buy cheap Walmart brand AT, squeeze out about ONLY 1/4 or even less (experiment what you need) of the bottle and refill with Afrin (so a 75% tears to 25% Afrin mix). I actually use about a 85% AT to 15% Afrin mix and it works great, even first thing in the morning... only way I can go to a Monday morning meeting! You can thank me later!
Hey all, I've been using the Clear Eyes 12 hour Maximum Redness Relief since they discontinued LR and remain satisfied. Good luck in finding a product that works for you.
Thanks Paulette, will keep you posted. And definitely need to try the clear eyes 12 hour
@ #842 - Inna
I've also tried B + L's Opcon A, and I've found the Advanced Eye Relief to be slightly more effective.
I just bought the advanced eye relief by B&L,it's not as good. Opcon A works a bit better for me, much clearer eyes. Trial and error it's unbelievable
Inna, if I'm correct, B + L's Advanced Eye Relief contains a little more of the redness reliever ingredient (Naphazoline) than the Opcon-A, so maybe the lubricant in the Advanced Eye Relief is making it less effective for you.
I didn't want a lubricant in my eye drops at first, but I've found that it feels pretty good in my eyes and the Advanced Eye Relief does not sting them at all.
This morning, I awoke with good rest and my eyes looked pretty clear. I was going out early and I decided to use my Visine LR because I wanted nice, bright eyes for the remainder of the day.
Well, after only a few hours, my eyes were red and irritated. Nothing got into my eyes and I wore minimal makeup. So, knew it had to be the Visine LR. The drops expired in September, so I guess they have finally lost their "oomph." For them to cause irritation, maybe certain ingredients are going bad, so I tossed the last bit in the bottle.
I hope those of you mixing your own solutions are being EXTRA careful and clean. I was watching "Animal Planet" a few days ago. A teen girl got a parasite in her eye via her contact lens case. She was just a normal teenager wearing her contact lenses every day. Apparently, the parasite is in the environment and it likes to live in contact lens cases. The girl was in horrific pain as the parasite started burrowing itself deeper into her eye. She didn't know what it was. Some doctors also misdiagnosed her in the beginning. She almost lost her eye.
Rhonda,
Yes, you have done your part and I personally thank you! I believe I also have done everything I possibly could to try to get any manufacturer to make an eyedrop with oxymetazoline. I begged Johnson and Johnson to bring Visine LR back with petitions and repeated phone calls and emails. I have written to companies large and small with pleas to make a substitute eye drop for Visine LR explaining that there isn't anything available in the US market currently to replace it and that they would have a faithful consumer base. NOTHING! I will continue to reach out to companies that I haven't contacted yet but truly am losing all hope. I continue to use B&L but again it doesn't work nearly as well as Visine LR had for me.
My sincere appreciation to all who use this forum for communicating ideas and recommendations.
You are very welcome, Christina. And thanks to you also for all you have done and continue to do.
Can't believe this nightmare of no more Visine LR started about a year ago. Thanks to my mass purchasing of product when I had coupons and a lesson learned from the last time we had no Visine - I am down to a few precious bottles set to expire next month. I am now using these every third day or so with B & L in between. Trying to ration as long as I can. Secretly wishing someone would introduce more stock or a new product. Out of habit, I still check.
I am Meenal, from India. I have started using Allergex since last month and am finding its the best of all the other options I have tried - Vising A, Opcon A, Zoamet.
Cendo Asthenof works better than Visine LR. I think the Vit-A in it makes my eyes fell fresher than I feel when I go back to my LR.
Everyone is so helpful. I just want to make sure before I order any of the suggested eye drops, they are sealed and from a trusted web site. Let's continue to keep each other informed. Thank you all!
This morning, I used my B & L (max. redness relief) and went to see a show. I felt as though I got enough sleep last night and didn't feel tired. My eyes have been feeling strained for days since I have been on my computer a lot. When I got home this afternoon, I was shocked by how red my eyes were. If I had known they were that red, I wouldn't go anywhere.
The oxymetazoline in Visine LR would shrink the blood vessels in my eyes almost instantly. Sometimes my eyes felt a little strange after I applied it... like I could feel the vessels constricting. Days like today, I really miss Visine LR.
Hi , I tried Cendo Asthenhof for the first time yesterday, and today again , and yes, I do find it the best , as good as Visine LR. I had ordered one small bottle online and it was very expensive. I tried to check websites from Indonesia but I haven't been able to find it at a better price anywhere else. Can anyone tell me where it might be found over the counter?
Hi Meenal - I tried that one too and really like it!!! I am using the last of my LR now- and it's not even close (could be because it expired a few months ago!) But I actually prefer the Cendo Asthenhof now.
Allergex and Oxylin are great products. Reasonable price online.
Has anyone tried to have Allergex or Oxylin shipped to Canada off the internet? If so, any problems?
