Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 41)
UpdatedHaving problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
This is great news. Can you please include the dosage of each medication prescribed? Thanks for the info.
O.k. I stopped using B & L along with Zoamet and now Zoamet truly seems to be working for me. I think I was confusing my poor eyes. For those that have experienced receiving empty bottles, that happened to me as well. I had received three empty bottles. Amy at AllDayPills did keep her word and sent me three additional bottles when I placed my second order. All of the bottles arrived intact and full. However, I'm anxious for the Allergex to arrive from a seller on eBay. We'll see!
DJ, I'm so happy for you! I wonder if many of us shouldn't see an opthamologist. I have been dealing with this for many years. I do think some of what I'm experiencing is a simple rebound effect but my eyes were red before I started using eye drops, especially in the morning.
Hi all, I will be going to the UK and Ireland for the next couple of weeks, is there something comparable to Visine LR in these areas ? Thanks
The forum has gone silent. Does this mean all hope is lost?
Used VLR for years and years. Have on out-dated bottle left. Dr. gave me a Rx and sample for PATADAY (does have olopatdine). Sample was tiny bottle Alcon (trademark) 0.5 ml. (so small can't read it) Walgreens gave me a price on Rx same tiny bottle about 25 drops. With Ins paying some still was over $130.00. Glad I had the sample did not work as good a VLR. I've tried most all eye drops even tried nose spray with olopatdine (do not use) Pharmacy told me. So far the best I have found is B L advanced Eye Relief (twice a day) low price at WM. almost as good as VLR does make ur eyes feel good. I did say almost.
I'll probably write at least one more letter to one of the overseas pharmacies. I hope other countries know how valuable an oxymetazoline eye drop would become to the United States. Maybe they don't realize the need here. If they could just do better with the shipping/customs problems and assure me of safety like, say, Walmart, Walgreens, etc, I would purchase from them.
I too discovered Zoamet and it works great just like Visine LR. Nothing else works. I use it maybe every other day and it gets the red out!
Is Zoamet or Allergex available in Italy?
I have been using B&L Advanced Eye Relief for several months now and it is working better than Visine LR. Don't get any burning sensation and my eyes are not nearly as red when I wake up in the morning and are even whiter than LR when I use the drops. I think prolonged use of LR aggravated the problem. Must get the Advanced Relief Redness Maximum Relief with .03% naphazoline hydrochloride. Other brands have a lesser content of this ingredient and they don't work. I used LR for many years and Occuclear before that and was very upset when J & J discontinued LR, but, for me at least, I have found a better alternative.
First time poster, but have been following along this thread for quite awhile now. I have been a LR user for years (too many!). I would ask my Eye Dr about using Visine and he always encouraged me to quit. I would try to but you cant be a professional with bloodshot eyes. Bad for business. I do think the blood vessel constrictor drug in LR is addictive and turns into a "rinse and repeat" never ending cycle. I remember all to well the last scare we had back in 2010 when Visine Long Lasting went off the shelf and finally came back as Visine LR. Feels like deja vu. Hoping this comes back rebranded yet again.
Since that first scare I always tried to keep a couple extra bottles on hand. Then it happened, went to buy deodorant and other cosmetics and was going to get some LR too. Not at Walgreens. Weird. Went to CVS. Gone. Went everywhere I could think of and all gone. I thought here we go....AGAIN!!! I still had a couple bottles still so I started to wean myself down to one drop of LR in the morning. I used to always use 2 drops and some late afternoon if needed. Still have half a bottle left with 12/14 expiration. It works fine as I think lots of expiration dates are overly aggressive to get consumers to buy new products sooner than actually needed. Bought the Afrin and Visine Tears but haven't pulled that trigger yet. Playing a laboratory tech with own eyes still scares me. Found a 9/15 expiration bottle of LR on eBay for $75 and bought it for a safety net. I do have to say having an extra bottle on reserve feels better than having $75 in the bank! Our eyes, and the well being that goes with it, are unfortunately addicted to LR.
So trying to break the addiction to LR I tried B&L Maximum Relief this morning. Felt much smoother on the eye (assuming this is the lubricant) and eyes reacted surprisingly better than i expected. Took a little longer to whiten, and i would say they whitened to 90% compared to LR and its now mid afternoon and still looking good. In the past i tried other brands with no luck. One hypothesis is the fact i have weaned myself to one drop of LR a day for the last year. I think for those using multiple drops a day the redness actaully worsens over time and rebound redness happens a lot easier.
Hoping I can beat the LR addiction (at least with something different). Visine is covering their a$$ because the ingedient we all desperately need is readily available in Afrin and even Walmart's generic Equate brand. There is a much bigger letigious issue in play or they are going "quiet" again (for whatever reason) and will come back under a new name. These guys aren't stupid and LR did sell very well. It was always in short supply while other Visine brands had plenty in stock at every store i bought from.
Keep the faith and thanks for the thread to keep us all informed and tell our story.
Thanks
Mark
I often see people refer to a time when "LR" was changed to "Long Lasting" or something of the sort but as far as I understand it has always been "VISINE L.R. Long-Lasting Relief" (hence the L.R.). When it came out in the 80's it had a white and blue box with yellow banners. The box said "VISINE L.R." in white. It said "With Long Lasting Relief" in a yellow banner under the title then said "up to 6 hours of relief" under that. It also said "Gets the Red Out" in a yellow banner across the top of the box.
Then they changed the box to a more yellow and white colored box but it still had a little bit of blue in the upper left corner. (This is the box I started on). This box did have a yellow banner across the top identifying it as "Long Lasting" but I imagine it was referring to itself as the long lasting relief formula in yellow as the box originally did and later would. This box also had a red banner across the middle that said "Gets the Red Out". They sort of just switched up the wording placement on this box between the two phrases.
Then there was the blue tear drop box that changed twice but I think they did that because the consumer didn't recognize the new box as the long-lasting relief formula because they used L.R. as the title and it only said Long-Lasting Redness Relief in the upper left corner in yellow rather than across the front as the subtitle. This was the first time they added the word "redness" before relief in the title.
They later changed the box to clarify "VISINE L.R. Long Lasting Redness Relief by putting "Long Lasting Redness Relief" in red right in the middle of the box under the title where they once had Gets the Red Out. They also left the Long lasting redness relief yellow banner which was in the upper left hand corner. This time they identified it as the long lasting redness relief formula twice as to not confuse the consumer.
Maybe this is what people are referring to when they say it went from LR to Long Lasting because during the first box it did only say LR real big which they later replaced with "Long Lasting Redness Relief". It would later go to the red teardrop box with the other "gets the red out" lines of products but still had "long lasting redness relief" in yellow as it always has. I don't now for sure and maybe someone can school me but I'm almost positive that the "L.R." stands for "Long-Lasting Relief".
So as far as I know it was always "VISINE L.R. Long Lasting Relief" and was from the "Gets the Red Out" line which offered 6 hours of relief. They just changed the wording to read "redness relief" and changed the boxes at least 5 times that I know of. There is a youtube video of one of the very first VISINE LR commercials on youtube if you want to watch check it out. But then I could be wrong about everything I just said! lol
Sorry it took me so long. Each dosage was one drop......
Has anyone on here who has been a long time user of Visine LR undergone Lasik surgery? Just curious to see if that presented any challenges. I am contemplating it, but interested to see if there is any feedback.
Thanks
Mark
I am going to be traveling to Toronto, Canada are there any eyedrops you would recommend that I should buy with the same ingredients as Visine LR ??
Give Bausch & Lamb advanced redness relief a try. I was an LR user for years and tried various other Visine products with absolutely no luck. In truth most of their products caused my eyes to get redder. Tried B&L based on a post that I read and I am very happy with the results.
This is for Inna - In Canada LR was called Visine Workplace. I ordered from a Canadian pharmacy when they had run out the last time. I believe Workplace was discontinued as well, but it may be worth trying.
Have you tried amazon? I find everything there some stuff you can find at the .com all stores have them like walmart.com, usually order online and they deliver in store for pick at no cost
Trust me. We have all exhausted Amazon, eBay and all other online sources.
Yes from what I understand Visine Workplace was discontinued the same time that Visine LR was discontinued. So far, I haven't heard from any manufacturers in the United States planning to make an eyedrop with oxymetazoline (as least they are not disclosing it.)
I like many others have been using B&L Redness Relief eyedrops. Definitely not the same as Visine LR for me but better than nothing.
I continue to keep on the lookout and monitor this thread.
Thank you everyone for the continued information and input.
Allergex works much better than Zoamet. I could fill my empty bottles of visine lr with Allergex and you wouldn't even know the difference if I let you use it!
