Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 31)
(Newest replies first)
Updated
Having problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
Update 2: Alibaba lined me up with a third party to purchase the eye drops. My ordered was denied since I was only ordering 10. Time to look elsewhere.
I called J&J, and they confirmed that LR has been discontinued, with no plans to bring it back. This happened back in 2010, and they told me that they had issues with getting the main ingredient "oxymetazoline" imported into the States, and Canada. I have been using this product for probably 15 years, and it is the "only" product on the market that works for me.
I have spent hundreds of dollars on buying every other Visine product, and all the other brands as well. This is truly a bummer.
Thanks for the update, Tony.
I agree it does not sound good.
There is no Visine Workplace - What other product can I buy that works. I'm not playing chemist and mixing anything.
I think it is crucial that J&J really be made to understand that people are selling this product all over ebay, Amazon, etc. with insanely high price markups. This shows that there is a known demand. In addition, if J&J needs to put it back on the market with a price hike in order to justify producing/selling it, I say go for it! It still won't be as high many are willing to pay it online. Maybe there is a happy medium here.
I did check this out and was told that they could do it but it would be very "cost prohibitive".
Update: I gave Alibaba my order information and my contact lady wrote me back saying it is not possible to order internationally straight from the supplier, and that it needs to go through a third party. She said she would get the third party lined up for me to make my order. I haven't heard from her in over a week. Doesn't sound good. :(
Has anyone considered seeing if this is something a compounding pharmacy could produce?
If you are so inclined, please sign the petition on the link below asking Prestige Brands to make an eyedrop with oxymetazoline:

Thank you everyone!
That sounds terrific Christina
I just signed your petition.
Thanks again
I think it's a brilliant idea. Let us know how we can help ramp up the effort!
Jay,
I thank you and everyone here as we are all working together for some type of help.
I know Tony ordered some eyedrops from China via alibaba. Did they ever arrive, Tony? Let us know what you think about them.
I am thinking about putting out petitions to two other US Companies who currently make nasal sprays with oxymetazoline, asking them to make eyedrops
with the same ingredient. One to prestige brands, who makes Nostrilla nasal spray, and one to Bayer, who makes Afrin nasal spray. What do you guys think?
Thanks for all that you are doing Christina.
I really need to find another solution fast. I am in the same boat as everyone else here
I signed the petition as well. These are the only eyedrops that work for me. They really need to continue producing them
Allergex makes eye drops with oxymetazoline, but unfortunately also in South Africa
Keep on trying!
I wouldn't dare put these nasal drops in my eyes, especially after Nostrilla recently changed its formula and people are complaining about severe burning in the nose and eyes (and that's when they use it as directed and insufflate it up their nose, God forbid placing it directly into the eyeball). Read the reviews on amazon.
Hey everyone chill down. Use Nostrilla Nose Spray. Contains the exact same active ingredient: Oxymetazoline. Now, before you purists and detractors start naysaying me, keep this in mind. The nasal membranes and passages are as sensitive as the occular ones. They are interconnected. Obviously, Nostrilla is designed not to damage either tissues. Therefore, it is perfectly safe to use as an eyedrop. Reason I know, is I did this for a period of a year, after Ocuclear drops were discontinued, before Visine LR was put on the market. I also use FishMox from online pet stores as a direct replacement for Amoxicillin when I have tooth infections. Saves me a ton of money by not having to go to a Dr. and get a prescription. Desperate times calls for creative solutions people. Take action now and quit whining to J&J to bring back the Visine LR. I know because I used to work there and they are EXTREMELY risk adverse.
The Peoples Pharmacy in South Africa and also Allegan of Ireland both never responded to my emails. Looks like I am out of options.
Oxymetazoline was developed from xylometazoline. Otrivine antistin eye drops contains xylometazoline, maybe they work the same, don't know.
Visine response - "Hi, Gregory. Thank you for letting us know how much you'd like to see these products return. While we don't have any current plans to bring them back, we will keep your comments in mind for future product decisions. You can check out our currently available products at visine. Have a wonderful weekend!"
