Having problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?

I just signed the petition!! Here is what i sent them as for WHY they need to bring this back, "I have a severe condition with daily red eye, and this product is the only thing that has ever worked over the past 10 years. I need this product desperately. I do not believe that is was discontinued due to slow sales? When it was on shelves, it was a HUGE seller at Walgreen's. Many times I had to order it online because it was always sold out! PLEASE bring this back, raise the price if you have too, do not let your loyal customers suffer."

well I just spent a complete (lunch) hour going to 3 different drug stores and I found 2 bottles! (In the last store). So between Sunday (11/2) when I started the quest, thinking there was NO shortage.... I was just adding to my stockpile because Rite Aid was havning their 2 dollar off campaign (again) and I had 1.50 off coupons to stack (which made it such a sweet deal), here is a list of places I've gone and bottles I found:

Sunday 11/2 - 2 Rite Aids - 0 Bottles found
Monday 11/3 - 1 Walgreens, 1 CVS - 0 Bottles found
Tuesday 11/4 - 3 Rite Aids (one on way to work), 1 CVS - 3 Bottles found (1 at first Rite Aid and 2 at last).

So, although it's discontinued, there may be some stock out there. And I just realized something... I have ALOT of drug stores in my local area. And it looks like Rite Aid is the top runner.... lol. So 3 more Bottles added to my stash. I'm thinking of starting to wind myself down to drops every-other-day to make my stockpile last a few years. Maybe by then someone will develop SOMETHING to make us happy.

So, I tried to order from Granville Pharmacy from Canada where I had ordered Visine Workplace from in 2010. When you go to their website it has Visine Workplace listed as in stock. So I tried to order 5 bottles, but my Mastercard wouldn't go through. So I called them today to see why and then they said they only take Amex, I thought it was strange... but she said their website had to be updated. Ok then, so I had the lady check on stock before I attempt to order again... DISCONTINUED. arrrrrgh.

I am glad you have been able to find a few remaining boxes of Visine LR. I however and others have not been so fortunate. There have not been any Visine LR stocked here in Southern California stores PERIOD for months. This is the reason I decided to start a petition on change.org to bring the product back. I have heard from others on this site that they have not been able to find Visine Workplace in Canada for months as well.

There may be eyedrops in South Africa and India with oxymetazoline as you find posted on this site however so far no one has been able to tell us how to order them internationally. If you do find any alternatives to Visine LR (especially with oxymetazoline) or a way to try these international eyedrops, please post it here. I know all of us would appreciate it. Also, I don't know if Johnson and Johnson, will even listen once I submit the petition, but I am at least giving it a try. I have told the group here I am open to any other productive suggestions.

Folks, so far it just doesn't look very good for us :(

I received a reply from Johnson & Johnson after I submitted the information they requested. They wrote in the email, "Yes, the VISINE LR has been discontinued..."

J&J also wrote that they are very concerned about my report regarding the other Visine eye drops. Johnson & Johnson has to know their other eye drops don't really work.

There was also a confusion on my part, and they apologized. J&J wanted the exp date, Lot # etc from packages of OTHER Visine eye drops that I had tried that did not work. They said they want to reimburse me for them. Of course, I do not have that information, as I tried most of their other eye drops years and years ago. If the more current ones did not have oxymetazoline in them, I never bought them.

If J&J refuses to budge, I believe another company will have to see the consumers' need and create a new eye drop containing oxymetazoline. I personally still believe that Visine probably figures that with Visine LR off the market, they will sell more of their other "useless" eye drops.

I am going to ask them to join our page here and sign the petition to Johnson and Johnson to bring Visine LR back.

Also, does anyone remember Ocuclear? I think we should contact Shering-Plough Healthcare (the manufacturer of the eydrops) and ask them to be Ocuclear Eyedrops back. If you all remember these eyedrops did have oxymetazoline in them.

Perhaps if Johnson and Johnson will not help us, Shering-Plough may?

Does anyone has connections to a pharmaceutical company?

Welcome to our world! This product is getting more and more difficult to find. We've heard cases of a bottle here and there but will eventually be gone with the Johnson & Johnson discontinuation decision. Other than paying through the nose on eBay, here's what you can do:

1. Call them at 888-734-7648 and demand they "re-launch the Visine LR product"

I really hate this....but so glad that I stock piled when I saw them, especially when there was a coupon for Visine. I tried the Rite Aid Allergy drops and although they work -- they don't provide the LONG lasting relief, nor that first-thing-in-the-morning coolness and instant relief you get from LR. That's probably the key right there, the LONG LASTING means not-as-often-used, therefore less product bought. So it's outta here.

Omg .. De ja vu all over again from 2010. This is a product that actually worked! And it has been taken from us again. I too signed petition and also contacted JnJ on their website . Don't let this happen again .. Voice your concerns .. We must b heard

I want to add that although the ingredients other than oxymetazoline in Nostrilla and Visine LR are basically inactive, "BusinessDictionary.com" has this to say about inactive ingredients:

Components which (irrespective of their relative quantity) do not help directly in achieving a product's performance objectives. They may, however, facilitate acceptance, application, stability, handling or marketing of the product, or delivery of the active ingredients. Not all inert ingredients are safe and, in some cases, are more dangerous than the active ingredients. Also called inert ingredients.

Hi - i am another dissatisfied Visine LR user and live in the UK so only pick up the product when i come here. I have contacted the Alibaba supplier to see if there is a retail supplier somewhere (there must be!!). Just another (of many) looking for Visine LR. I had no idea a shortage was coming. Thankfully, I bought a couple at Rite Aid last month. Of course, now there is none to be found. It doesn't stop me from looking tho. I signed the petition and will check in with this site to see if there are updates or if anyone finds an eye drop equivalent.

I truly cannot believe the outrageous prices on ebay and amazon. Wow.

I began MY boycott of Johnson & Johnson after I learned of the discontinuation of Visine LR. You want to stop manufacturing and distributing the best drops found on the market? I will then stop buying ALL of your products. How's that?

Occuclear has not been available in the U.S. for some time. I miss those drops too, they were great. I hate it when a company quits making a product that I love. Johnson and Johnson, you suck!!! I was lucky enough to find one bottle of LR at a local drug store, but I had to go to about 5 or 6 drug stores to find it. This is ridiculous!! I don't know what I'm going to do when this bottle of eye drops runs out. SMDH!!!

Thank you BOTH (and everyone else) for taking action to get Visine LR back and/or other eyedrops with oxymetazoline on the market. I am grateful we have this forum to vent and share information but I really believe as Daryl we need to take some kind of ACTION with the manufacturers.

If you are new to this page, please read other posts below to find out what you can do:

1. Sign the petition to bring Visine LR back

2. See the list of J& J products to boycott

3. Find the email address to the makers of Nostrilla (a nasal spray with oxymetazoline currently on the market). Tell them to make an eyedrop with oxymetazoline, that there isn't any of the US market, and they would produce a much needed product! I forgot to mention that with their letter saying they would present this idea to their marketing personnel, they also sent me a couple for one of their products for free.

4. THIS ONE IS NEW: Find the email address to the makers of Afrin (another nasal spray with oxymetazoline currently on the market.) Tell them the facts as mentioned above. bayercare.com/emailus.cfm

5. Some ideas that others are using to help their eyes in the interim (everything from using diluted nasal sprays to ordering internationally)

I know it will take some effort but we are all trying to make it as organized and streamlined as possible. Thank you truly to all for taking action!

Have you guys seen what's been happening on Ebay with Visine long lasting ? Check out Visine long lasting under sold listings. Just search the product and click sold listings on the left side of there web page. People are paying $30..$40..$50 + a bottle!

I called the J&J customer call center and they said they had no idea this was happening with there product. My guess is prices will only go up even more as left over stock is sold out on ebay and amazon. I believe this scalping that's going on with this J&J's product must be brought to there attention in your petition. Maybe then they will once again get message that there is a real market need for this product and bringing it back. In addition it may also help stop some of these unscrupulous merchants who are racking in huge profits off others peoples misery and need for relief...bit harsh? well maybe... but you guys be the judge.
