What's the best way to begin weaning off vimpat? Taking 50 mg once a day and it is kicking my ass to take half a pill every day so I go back on the medication. I'm depressed, feel very sick to my stomach, nausea, and overall lousy. Those symptoms are tolerable when I'm on the medication but still present. Worst medication ever. Was prescribed because keppra symptoms were worse.

Hello, Jack! How are you?

The FDA lists Vimpat as being used to treat partial seizures in people with epilepsy.

If that's what you're taking it for, it's very important that you not stop, without consulting your doctor and replacing it with some other medication.

It can cause those side effects, along with weight gain, dizziness and dry mouth.

How long have you been taking it? Most side effects are also transient and will go away after a few weeks, once your body adjusts to the medication.

The one my fiancé is on used to knock him out, within about 20 minutes of taking it and he'd crash for several hours, but that eventually wore off and he's fine, now.
