What if any side effects are people experiencing on viibryd
What is the new med that you tried?
I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow and find out how to wean off this drug. It is awful. I did the starter pack and just started the 40 mg dosage. I haven't slept through the night; I have splitting headaches; nausea and knee pain. I've been on many different types of drugs and this is almost as bad as Effexor, which caused blurry vision. Like others on here, I felt great at 10 mg with just side effects of loss of appetite and a little diarreha. The scariest thing is that I keep losing words or mixing them up in a sentence. I am going back to Zoloft. Yes, I was still experiencing some depression but this is NOT worth it.
I would suggest reading the entire discussion to answer that question, otherwise we are just going in circles.
Ibuprophen can be nephrotoxic if you take too much. Nephrotoxic means causing damage to the kidneys.
Here is an article to better understand.

If you have kidney/liver please make sure your doctor is aware of everything you take. Drawing blood samples for lab results will determine if a drug such as Viibryd is harmful or not that way to you.
Thank you Mario...I just realized I was the last 20 mg..so I think I might just stay on that dosage a little bit longer to see how that goes. I just started noticing the ankle and leg pain the last couple of days so hopefully it will go away. Also I took an aleve and it did help but just made me more sleepy...I know they had a caution on that but I think it's when you already have kidney disease or liver problems...has anyone used aleve or something to help with pain...thanks in advance for any more replies....
I do not believe everyone has joint/muscle pain. I must say though that when you reach 40mg it is considerably stronger medicine. You have to weigh what is worse the ankle leg pain which may be alleviated with some exercise or the depression. Most common side effect is diarrhea which can be managed easily as previously posted.
I am now on the last three 20 mg (viibryd) or so and I guess my biggest complaint I'm having are my ankles and lower leg hurting. I haven't gotten back to myself yet and really afraid of upping the dosage. Just wondering how long these side effects last....
Diarrhea is a side effect and I receive a generic prescription that would be the equivalent of immodium thus avoiding that issue thought it may start constipation which is easily controlled with water enemas. I am more myself with Viibryd so far. I have been on 40mg for about two months now the brain zaps are decreasing but do still happen especially when I am under very stressful conditions. Right now my biggest complaint is that it is very expensive and not covered by insurance. Please keep us up to date. Oh, no additional joint pain and if anything some dreams have been quite pleasant which is rare for me.
I was on Vibryd in the spring. It helped my anxieties. But the diarreha was so bad and after 2 wks I still had it. Then I went back on Wellbutron 300xl. That didn't work for me. I was angry all the time. No patience noises of any kind bothered me . I asked my dr if I could again try Vibryd. I do alot of reading on the meds I take. I have Rhumatoid Arthitis, take meds as well as injections for that.
So far I have felt so much more like myself and actually smiling again. The diarreha is still horrible. But is it worth feeling better? I am going to stick it out longer and hope it goes away. Tonight I tried immodium but last time it didn't work.
I fell and sprained my ankle before startingy trial pkg. So I am not sure if the stiffness in both knees is from the fall or meds. I am going to try stretches tomorrow. With RA..if it hurts...move it!
I certainly don't like to think of paralysing nightmares. And extra joint pain. Those are a tremendous fear!
So far, so good other than the D word.
I am on 10mg for 3 more nights then up to 20mg as the target. I also take the wellbutron but got real shakey like an overdose so backed off to 150 on it. Today was better.
Wonder if I could just stay on 10mg Vii and 150 wellbutron.
My suggestion? DO NOT start this drug. Ask your doctor to out a little more thought and effort into something that has far fewer side effects!!!
I'll be honest and say that reading about the brain zaps really concerns me. Seems like most of the people that are on it have gotten off. I am rethinking whether I will even start this and plan to talk to my doctor again.
So far doing well on Viibryd better than expected, the electrical flashes shortly after taking the pill where not expected. I found that it happens when lowering the dosage to some but if anything I am on 40mg. a day So I take it right before I fall asleep, I mean when I am literally a few minutes of passing out. I found a web link that discribes it but like I said I am not coming off it and have only been on 1.5 months.

How are you now on this drug?
I just found this thread. Back to the "Brain Zaps, I found 5 post that mention them but without any detail. I know that they begin 5-10 after taking Viibryd so I take the pill right before passing out Excedrein PM and a Ambian. I take lomitil to control diarrhea another side effect. I feel that right now it is the brain zaps that makes me worry about the drug as it is not mentioned in any literature by the company that makes Viibryd. I have not experienced nightmares or joint pain as others have described, but will continue to post should somthing change.
I have been off Viibryd about 2 weeks and still having this brain zap thing. Feelis like a startle reflex accompanied by the flash and sort of a jolt in my head...
I have been on Viibryd for 6 weeks. One month starter pack 10,20,40mg and now 40mg daily. I feel great since I started Viibryd. Now about a week ago I get what someone on this forum called "BRAIN ZAPS" almost as if I were a electronic that is short circuiting. I take the pill after my sleeping pills are practically putting me to sleep to avoid that feeling, it does not hurt but when I feel the "Brain Zaps" I hear a light buzzing sound and get flashes of red and/or blue lights. Anyone have the same side effects? I feel it has help me but is it causing damage at the same time?
Agree the drug is worse than depression! The withdrawl is real ... I am drinking lots of water and taking brisk walks -- hoping this will help get all the Viibryd out of my system...
It took me a week to wean off from 40 mg. I've been completely off for six days. Each day gets a little better, but I still feel horrible. It has been really hard to get my therapist and doctor to believe that my body is going through withdrawal. I finally got the doctor to give me some medicine for the nausea. She said it will take 4 weeks for the drug to be completely out of my system. Give me strength. My husband is tired of having a helpless wife and my kids can't understand how a medicine could make me sick. This drug is worse than being depressed! I would believe this if it wasn't happening to me.
It took less than a week for my hips to feel better. At about 10 days I realized that my sprained ankle that had never healed and was thinking of seeing a podiatrist about was feeling fine.
When my dr switched me to celexa he had me take both for two days then just stop viibryd. I honestly have not had any withdrawal or problems getting off of the med.
