Vicodin Prescriptions From Another State

My script for hydrocodone was written by my doc in washington. I am currently in California, and they will not refill. Does Nevada or Idaho honor out of state scripts for same?

Hello, Jerry! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having.

Unfortunately, it's going to be very difficult to find a pharmacy that's willing to fill an out of state prescription. There are two reasons for this, the first being that it is much harder for them to validate the prescription to ensure that it's legitimate.

The second reason is due to the fact that pharmacies are limited, by the DEA, in how much of any given controlled substance they can order in and stock each month. This means that most will only fill prescriptions for people that live locally. Many even require that the prescribing doctor also be located within a certain radius of their store.

Does anyone have an idea that might help?

The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
