Vicodin Helps Me Focus More Than Adderall. Anybody Else?

I first took Vicodin about 20 years ago and I noticed that it made me fell like I thought I should feel if I was "normal". It wasn't a high or a buzz. It just brought my mood and focus up to a level where I thought it should be. I have brought it up to my doctors in the past and they just kind of shrug their shoulder.
I'm 50 years old, taking 60mg Adderall & Citalopram each, day but it doesn't work as well as Vicodin. My inability to focus and lack of energy has affected my life drastically and it's become very serious in terms of finding & keeping a job and my health.
Also, I'm aware of the addiction dangers but that is not an issue. I take a Vicodin maybe 2 or 3 times a month for back pain.
What I'm trying to find out is if anybody else is aware of this effect and if there are any similar & safer drugs that help with focus and low energy like Vicodin does for me. Thank you very much.

Yes I thought it was just me...I could come off three meds if I took the vicoden. Major difference. I have a severe case of fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis in left knee,degenerative arthritis in right knee,severe back pain from bulging disc&bone spurs on L4,5S1...so I'm in pain especially during rain& cold weather. This all has resulted from car wreck.

This is actually the first time I've heard of people mentioning that Vicodin increases their focus and energy. Whenever I've taken Vicodin in the past it has always had more of a drowsiness effect on me. However, I'm thankful that I've never had to be on it for more than a few weeks at a time following surgery.

On the other hand there are people I know who take it more regularly for pain and I get the sense that it helps them carry on throughout the day without being as stressed. I guess Vicodin affects each person a little differently in that aspect.

But as far as finding an alternative is concerned, if you're not using it for its intended purpose of pain relief... you could look into various OTC/dietary herbal supplements that help increase focus and energy. I for one find the combination of cannabis and black/green tea to be helpful when used responsibly.

Wow, im just shocked to hear about nearly the identical experience that i had with Vicodin and focus, only to be prescribed exactly the same meds... adderall and citalopram. That have horrible side effects and don’t do the trick. I never craved Vicodin or felt high, and i had no interest in it unless i was studying or writing a paper. i felt like no one believed the extent that it helped me focus. I feel like this needs to be seriously studied. Where do things now stand for you?
