Variable Bruising And Bleeding On Xarelto (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi, I'm a 25 year old female and I've been on Xarelto for 3 months now for a DVT and PE, and I'm noticing that some days I bruise and bleed easier compared to others. Sometimes I'll hit my arm or leg on something and think to myself "that's going to bruise" but then it doesn't. Other days I get bruises that I can't even remember the cause. Similarly with cuts and scrapes. Does anybody else experience this? I asked my specialist but he had no explanation. Most of the time I bruise and bleed as everyone else, which is a bit disconcerting as I expected this wouldn't be the case, being on blood thinners. Again, my specialist wasn't sure. I've been tested for everything they can think of and they're not sure why they started in the first place. I'm just curious really, anyone else experiencing anything similar?

Hi :) I'm 27 and also on it for a previous dvt and pe. Turns out I have a genetic blood disorder so I'll be on it for the rest of my life. The same thing has been happening to me too. I currently have about 6 bruises on one leg, 3 on the other and various ones on my arms. I have no idea where they came from. I have a drs apt on the 18. I will let you know what mine says too
Hi! I have been taking Xarelto for 5 mos. and experience the same bruising/not bruising. I am 40 years old and had multiple PEs on both of my lungs. Same thing happens when I accidently cut myself - some times I need multiple bandaids some times I (seem to) clot faster than before blood thinners. Given the price of the pills it is kind of frustrating. I asked my Dr to and he had no idea either. My PEs were a mystery too.
I have been on Xarelto for over three years. In the past two weeks I have noticed bruising. There has been no changes in medication. Do the bruises go away in time, if I'm more careful? Is there anything else that I should do?
I,m Tom
Has anyone found anything that's effective for stopping small bleeds while on Xarelto? I stopped one with pressure, then covering it with a Band-Aid. Would a styptic pencil (aluminum sulfate) work? These were used back in the day for shaving nicks and cuts.
