Valsartan-hctz 160/12.5 Tablet Availability
UpdatedIs this drug still being made? The pharmacist I went to said it was not. Please answer so I can find out if I'll be able to get a new prescription. Thanks for your help.

Hello, Patricia! How are you?
Do you happen to know what the markings were on the tablet in question? Or who the manufacturer was, so I can research this further for you?
The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.
Hello...I have been taking Diovan HCT Brand by Norvartis for many years...Now my insurance will no longer cover it and says I must go to generic...I took Valsartin by Sandoz with no problem but now cannot find a pharmacy that carries this generic Diovan HCT by Sandoz. Do you know if this generic version of Diovan is still made by Sandoz? If so how can I find a pharmacy that carries it by Sandoz? Thank you...I have tried other generics of Diovan with problems except Sandoz.
Re: Winnie (# 2)
Hello, My wife has also had problems with several types of Diovan generics. Sandoz did fine. Sandoz is still available in Canada and it is very cheap. Actually, you can get Diovan in Canada. We live in Minneapolis. I just filled a prescription for 180 tablets of 160/25 Diovan/HCTZ for $60 USD. Pharmacies will mail it to you if you can get their doctor to fax them one. Or I went myself to Windsor, ON, the first time to verify the pharmacy. Here is an informative video (What you need to know to get your medications from Canada legally). We use Hunter's Pharmacy as mentioned in the video but Shopper's Pharmacy also would do this. Maybe others. My wife is on Medicare. I am saving the feds a couple grand per year doing this. And a few thousand of mine as well.
I have been told that the NJ location where generic Sandoz was made shut down.
Do Macleod Valsartan/hctz have the Carcinogen in them? Are they a part of the recall?
Re: Verwon (# 1)
The Valsartan I am taking came from CVS, distributed by SOLCO, mfg in China. I take 80 mg. CVS Caremark has not yet issued the recall notice. I’ve heard nothing from them. I got the recall notice direct from FDA.
Valsartan has worked well for me with no side effects. Previously I took lisinipril but the side effects were not acceptable: horrible cough, swelling in feet, ankles & hands; painful joints.
