Valparin Vs Valparinchrono

I took valparin chrono 500mg + 800mg (morning + night) for 2 yrs. now EEG normal. Dr.advised to taper for 1 year with valparin (instead of valparin chrono).from 400+400+200mg. what is the difference between valparin and valparin chrono. Changed the tablets two days ago. I got fever. Whether fever is due to change of medicine?
