Valparin Side Effects On Children

My son who is 3 and a half yrs old now, is on valparin 200 since he was 6months old, due to seizures which started occuring when he was 6 months.Topamax 25mg was added to valparin200 bcos seizures continued to occur inspite of the valparin200 therapy. Now the condition is that he is showing great signs of recovery and understands almost everything. But the problem is that he is unable to speak properly, also he doesn't have a proper bowel control. He also has the problem of non coordination of his body parts and is unable to run. There is also a problem of excessive saliva, constipation and frequent viral infections with him. Now provided the situation that he has't had a seizure for almost 1 year or so, i want to know what are the chances of him getting absolutely normal in behaviour? and how long will it take when the side effects described above disappear permanently? Also if he would be able to speak properly?

am in great confusion pls anybody help me.my 3 years daughter got fits 2 times.at first time of fits doctor suggest to give valparin 200 sy 2.5 ml.i followed for only one month and then i stopped.second time my baby got fits.doctor advised me to give valparin again.pls tell me if any side effects occurs to child.and her all reports is normal.pls help me

Hello. My son who is 4.3 yrs old now, had abnormal development and growth (physical and Mental) and was treating with PARCITAM when he was about 1 years old and eventually I got to know that he was suffering from mild seizure when he was in just 1.2year old through EEG (but from MRI it was not found, Thyroid normal, BERA normal). A senior professor of pediatric prescribed LIVESAM (Levetiracetam 100mg, 1ml twice a day) and had been continuing for over 2.5 years. He started walk on 3 years old but from last 10 to 11 month I noticed that he has a developed feveral convulsion and sometimes leads to fits. So, I immediately gone through a pediatrician and he prescribed valparin 200, 4ml twice a day. (withdraw LIVETIRACETAM) since last 3-4 months, Now the condition is that till now he is not walking properly even he is not able to stand freely and also not able to walk properly for one minutes. as he is showing great signs of recovery and understands lots of things but reacting very late. But the problem is that he is unable to speak (some meaningless word like “TIGIDDHA, KAKUM, KAKUM KA, HEK, EEE…K, AAGYA, BABABBA, AAAI…AAI..AAI….AAAA he is telling), also he doesn,t have a proper bowel control. He also has the problem of non coordination of his body parts and is unable to run. There is also a problem of excessive saliva, constipation, frequently showing tongue (from child hood), and frequent viral infections with him. Now frequently he has been suffering from skin infection (small acne type having pus and fluid inside)for over 2 months throughout the body mainly in hands and legs. Doctor prescribed ROXITHROMYCIN but it occurs in regular interval and disappear automatically even without any antibiotic. Now he hasn't had a seizure/fever convulsion for almost from the use of valparin that is from last 3 months, i want to know what are the chances of him getting absolutely normal in behavior, he would be able to speak and walk properly? and how long will it take when the side effects described above disappear permanently?

my son is 7yrs old. he was suffering fever in last years, Dr prescribed him valparin 200 for 3 years. i want to know about side effect of valparin and also know that multivitamin is need of child during taking valparin.

My son now 3 yrs old when is was 1yrs old he had a fit problem at high fever that time dr give the valparin 200 and among the eptoin syrp does as 2.5 ml twice a day till time he cant stand independently and cant walk with our support also cant recognizance the surrounding things and not able to speak any word. till date i will give the same medicine so could u advise me what we do for that how will he develop himself now i will star the massage for his legs and other related boy part since last 4months but no improvement as well as so what is solution. actually at a birth time his weight is 1000gms only. plz suggest me what we do?

My daughter is 4 yr 2 months old. She has been advised VALPARIN 200 5 ml every 12 hrs for 2 years. She has drowsiness very often. I just came to know that she feels asleep in the class. I am worried is this because of Valparin which is leading to drowsiness.
