Valium And Alcohol Safety

I had taken a 5mg tablet of valium for my back pain yesterday morning which has been 36hrs ago. I want to know if it's safe or ok to have a few alcoholic drinks tonight?

"A few" alcoholic drinks? That is like when the cop asks you how many beers you've had, you say "a few"... and the cop knows it's more like 8+. lol.

Diazepam has a long half life so it will still be in your system 36 hrs later. I would say that you'd probably be okay to have 2-3 drinks maximum. Anything more than that could be pushing it. It also depends on your tolerance to valium AND alcohol.

Back when I was drinking (i'm a recovering alcoholic) I would take up to 2mg xanax a day and drink 30 beers (WARNING: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!). The only reason I didn't die from this is that my tolerance to alcohol was so high from drinking over a fifth of whisky or 30+ beers a day, everyday, for 15 years. There were a couple times I woke up having fallen out of my computer chair, entirely blue and gasping for oxygen. I'm guessing I either had seizures or acute respiratory failure.

This medication should not be taken with alcohol, so it is best to avoid such mixtures.
