Valacyclovir With Light Alcohol Intake

I've been taking Valacyclovir for about 30 days 3 times a day for shingles. I'd like to have a beer or cocktail at dinner with my wife. Would this be ok or not? Have any other patients had any problems mixing the drug and alcohol?

Indulging in alcohol while taking this medication could cause you to experience more severe side effects than usual, according to NIH warnings, which may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, and vomiting.

Thus, if your doctor approves of your imbibing, you should make sure that you will not be driving, or operating any dangerous machinery, afterwards.

Are you on any other medications?
