What is the difference between valacyclovir hcl 500mg and valacyclovir 1gm tablets? Why does one have hcl on the prescription bottle and the other just says valacyclovir?

The only different between what you listed is the dosage, and the HCL just designated the specific chemical salt that medication has been derived from, some places list it on the prescription, and some don't.
