Utah Medicaid - Staying Off The Hit List [rexulti / Abilify]
UpdatedMy prescriber wants me to take a very expensive psych med called Rexulti (~$1,100/mth), and tells me that Medicaid won't drop me for doing so.
If you know Utah politics, they are still fighting ACA Medicaid Expansion and finding ways to reduce Medicaid programs such as PCN. I feel that if I take such an expensive medication, that puts a target on my back to be dropped at the first excuse.
The state Medicaid office and pharmacies will not tell me how much each is paying, so I am left to guess if they have worked the price down, or if it's the bullet I think it is.
As an alternative, I am thinking of taking its analog Abilify (aririprazole). But the problem is the same, they won't disclose pricing and Utah Medicaid refuses to pay outside Utah such as a Canadian pharmacy that sells at an extremely competitive price.
Thoughts?

Some pharmacies print “total cost” on the receipt on the perforated portion that shows what you paid.
My mom lives in NH and she’s on some pretty expensive psych meds. We only got medicaid expansion because of the ACA, but being disabled she qualified anyway. I have never heard of them dropping people because of claims, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
What happened with you?
