I have a bad tooth that hurts and I have some penicillin that expired 6-24-2013 from a dentist. Would it be safe to take?

I have an ongoing dental problem, I'm out of town and I found a half a bottle of penicillin (prescribed to me for this same problem) that is 5 months expired. My gum is flaring up again & I will be home within a week...Can I take these to start with?

Can I give myself a shot of penicillin 7 months past the expiration date (06-2017)? I've always kept it in the ice box. I am sick, coughing, along with a runny nose and congestion in my chest.

My youngest child has a swollen throat and fever. Looks like strep. Her insurance doesn't turn on til February. I have liquid Penicillin from our other child having strep last month but it says to use before 12/28/17. It's only 1 week expired. Can I use this? Does liquid Penicillin go bad?

My meds say to discard after 5/3/17 and they're Penicillin vk. It is 11/2/17. Can I still take them?

This medication does not become dangerous, once expired, but it does start to lose effectiveness, thus it may not fully eradicate infectious bacteria, which creates the risk of it developing antibiotic resistance. Thus, it would be best to see your dentist, so they can prescribe a fresh supply, if an antibiotic is necessary.

The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
