Used Prepopik
UpdatedI had my first colonoscopy yesterday. Used Prepopik, got as free sample from GI doc. I was freaking out from all reviews on this product. I took this advice and it seemed to work for me: following a low residue diet 3 days prior to procedure&1 day prior only clear liquids. I started really hydrating with pedialyte, propel,& other clear liquids 3 days prior to test. I got a prescription for Zofran to help with nausea. Took 1 of those about an hour before each dosage of prep was due. Make sure you chill water so you've got really cold water to mix the powder in. Drink the prep through a big straw. The first sip wasn't horrible but then I caught sense of that sour-ish fruit aftertaste,& that almost made me choke. I had results about 30 minutes after starting. I noticed a lot of abdominal bloating & edema in my upper thighs, but no where else. I kept urinating and really noticed the edema / bloating disappearing about time for 2nd dose. I also developed shaking chills and a headache. Took Tylenol for headache. I really struggled with 2nd dosage because I was anticipating the sour- fruity taste. So I was alternating taking a sip of prep & a sip of really cold plain water. That worked. I still couldn't manage to get the last ounce of prep down, but it didn't matter. My output was just this weird light brown - finally yellow clear fluid about 2 hours before I had to report. I also had baby wipes just for my butt & I had put on Baby Vaseline to have some protection for my skin and it seemed to keep irritation to a minimum. My prep was great. GI doc could see everything. I'm not sure I'll take this again, just because my husband said he didn't have headache, nausea, bloating or edema with regular Golytely.

Thank you for sharing your story and experience with Prepopik. From what I can tell, this appears to be one of the more popular colonoscopy preps on the market.

Not many people seem to care for its taste [which is understandably so...] but most reports I read suggest that it works very well... and that's what actually matters, as long as you can get it down Lol. Best wishes to others who may be thinking about giving Prepopik a try!
