However, consulting your doctor would be best to make sure that you have an infection and to get the proper antibiotic to treat it. Not all bacteria respond to every antibiotic that is available and taking the wrong one could cause you to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am 69 yrs. I have prostat enlargement. Urine flow was restricted. Doctors advised urimaxd 4mg. For the last 1 yr ,I have been using. The urine flow has improved. So far no recognizable side effects expect for stoppage of discharge during intercourse. I had a small bowel resection June 25.(crohn's disease) . After about 10 days home doing well I ended up with a bladder infection. I had some bladder issues in the hospital and needed cathaders. I have beeen on Nitrofur-macr 100 twice a day for 5 days and am not sure it is helping. Sometimes I think it is. I sometimes have a bloody urination and one time it was bloody with a lot of slimy material I am due to have 5 more days of the nitrofur. My urine is depleted of potassium citrate and vit. B 6. The Dr.has given me rx to take these two. But I'm not sure about his judgement. He has told me I would have to take this the rest of my life. The reason I was sent to him was because I was keeping a low grade infec. Because I had stones. I still had a flake of a stone in my left kidney. ANTIBIOTIC ## My wife is 83 years old and has a bladder infection. Her PCP put her on liquid antibiotic because her she can't swallow pills of any kind,(two refills) and it did not her symtoms. He them put her her on Nitro/Mono 100 mg. She has had a lethargic condition along with burning when saud she gort worse and so was switched to the Nitro/ Mono 100 mg twice daily. Hello. I have a precription for Potassium Citrate Er 10 Meq. I get 60 tablets a month (2 a day). The problem is that it's rather expensive. It's usually been around $50 a month and it has recently increased to over $80 a month. And I'm told I already take the generic kind. Is there an equivilent medication I can take that would produce the same results, and wouldn't cost as much? Or is it possible to buy this without a prescription? Plenty of places seem to sell general Potassium Citrate, but not the Er version or in such a large dose. Basically, I'm just hoping to find a cheaper option. My doctor has advised talking to the pharmacist and the pharmacist says to talk to my doctor, so I'm not really getting anywhere with them. Thanks.
