Unexplained Weight Loss

Thyroids checked out, no explanation for weight loss; over 15 lbs in less than 5 months. Muscles seem to be deteriorating, very weak. Any ideas, anyone?

Hi Lillianna,

There could be many factors that might be attributing to this unexplained weight loss. In the past 5 months, you had to have done something/anything differently to experience such a drastic change in weight without you noticing/trying.

- What's your diet like? Are you eating regular meals throughout the day and "suddenly" changed your eating habits or overall caloric intake?

- Have you been exercising regularly?

- Have you been taking any new medications or supplements?

- Are you experiencing more stress on a daily basis than what your body is comfortable with?

Those are just some of the things I can think of off the top of my head. Depending on your current weight, losing 15 pounds does seem pretty normal as far as weight loss goes within a 5 month time period.
