Uti Treated With Nitrofuran Monohyd Macro 100 Mg
UpdatedI am finishing eight days of nitrofuran 100 mgm twice daily for a UTI. Experiencing some bladder irritation and frequency. Could this be from the drug retained in the urine? Thanks!

Hello, Tom! How are you?
No, it shouldn't cause those types of symptoms, but it may not have been the proper medication to eradicate the infection you had. Just because it treats most such infections doesn't mean it will always treat all of them.
The general rule with antibiotics is that if the are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours and then you should start to see improvement within 3 days.
Have you consulted your doctor, yet? You may need to try a different antibiotic.
